Poster designed for the presentation at @depozito.pt of @teresacarvalheira ‘s book 𝓑𝓮𝓼𝓽𝓲𝓪́𝓻𝓲𝓸 𝓭𝓮 𝓐𝓻𝓻𝓪𝓲𝓸𝓵𝓸𝓼: 𝓽𝓪𝓹𝓮𝓽𝓮𝓼, 𝓫𝓲𝓬𝓱𝓸𝓼 𝓮 𝓸𝓾𝓽𝓻𝓪𝓼 𝓱𝓲𝓼𝓽𝓸́𝓻𝓲𝓪𝓼 published by @vaivemvaivem . This Bestiary of Alentejo, features the fauna, flora, and other life forms depicted in the enchanting Arraiolos Rugs. The poster replicates the symmetry of the Arraiolos Rug patterns, and the unexpected beasts composed in the mending process. Four birds, three flowers, two rabbits and one moça are dotted on an excel grid to digitally archive the otherwise analogue process of designing an Arraiolos Rug. 𖡼𖤣 Print: RISO @riso.onomatopee Paper: A2 IMAGO 120g Grey Poem: Teresa Carvalheira Graphic Design: Sofia Paz 𖥧𖡼 Images: 5 - “Tapetes de Arrayolos”, D. earlier this month I wrote an article for @_fragmeister and made a little zine out of it. In a moment in time when personal disclosure became parasocial currency, and individuality is forced on individuals, projects about design are no longer enough. The design field is now focused on the context behind the designer: their identity politics. However, in the process of developing projects about personal matter, individualization and alienation can be reinforced, not to mention the exoticism of the ‘different’. Deconstruction starts looking like creative self-destruction, and tutorings become therapy sessions. This article reflects on the perils of the authorial approach to design education and how collaborative ways of working can safe-net the process of creation. Because at the end of the day, “Individual creators are, to no small extent, historical fabrications.” You can read it in full at fragmeister.com Thanks to @felixschuh for starting this platform. And to @carlo_bramanti_ for proof-reading e.v.e.r.y s.i.n.g.l.e word. type(s): fa_silrzgajbg by @fullautofoundry and Ronzino @collletttivo

My project “Some Kind of Place” is a video essay, or a collection of observations and annotations on the ways we represent places. It reflects on the contradictions inherent in design’s methods for recognizing, recording, and understanding spatial information, prompting the question: when do attempts at world-knowing turn into acts of place-making? A thank you to those who sat down to watch it both at @designacademyeindhoven graduation show during @dutchdesignweek and at the 𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘪𝘭𝘮 𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘭 organized by @geo.frames & @futurenumberfive
