Saturday, December 14th from 6 to 9 PM at Saint-Martin Bookshop, join us to celebrate the launch of The Sniper In The Brain!
🦟🐛🍸⏳🧠
Upside-down trees with roots reaching toward the
cosmos, glasses, pitchers, transparent vessels, and bodies blending human and animal, male and female features populate Jacopo Pagin’s works. These figures reveal themselves in their decadent and symmetrical being, caught within a web of references centered on the evocative power of the gaze.
The first monograph dedicated to Jacopo Pagin, edited and designed by Ismaël Bennani and Orfée Grandhomme and featuring a critical contribution by Alessandra Franetovich, brings together over 200 drawings and paintings to explore the visionary, obsessive, and hypnotic qualities of the artist’s work and its profound connections with exotic, mediumistic, and new-age practices.
The book is co-published by NERO, Rome and Make Room, Los Angeles.

Jacopo Pagin pays homage to historical artistic techniques while presenting a contemporary perspective on everyday life and its mysteries. He often uses mirrored imagery, reflections, and repetition to explore dualities such as past versus present, control versus chaos, and memory versus perception. His work blurs the lines between the organic and the artificial, the visible and the invisible, inviting viewers to question the narratives of progress that have shaped contemporary society.

Since 2010, the Hermès Corporate Foundation has invited visual artists to discover artisanal skills within Hermès’ workshops as part of its Artist Residency program. This close immersion in the creative process allows them to discover new materials and experiment with other modes of production, resulting in the creation of original works.
Entitled “The Ruins of Light ,” in connection with the eponymous series of vases, the exhibition presented in the CEAAC lobby brings together sketches, paintings, and crystal vases. The works establish a unique link between the ornate elegance of the crystal object and the radical iconography of Jacopo Pagin. The idea of ruin occupies a central place: the crystal vase, a symbol of opulence, becomes both an anticipated ruin and a vestige of a possible future. Behind the captivating darkness of the material and forms, the exhibition “ The Ruins of Light” nevertheless offers a glimpse of the possibility of survival and renewal.
