Since 2010, the Hermès Corporate Foundation has invited visual artists to discover artisanal skills within Hermès’ workshops as part of its Artist Residency program. This close immersion in the creative process allows them to discover new materials and experiment with other modes of production, resulting in the creation of original works. Entitled “The Ruins of Light ,” in connection with the eponymous series of vases, the exhibition presented in the CEAAC lobby brings together sketches, paintings, and crystal vases. The works establish a unique link between the ornate elegance of the crystal object and the radical iconography of Jacopo Pagin. The idea of ​​ruin occupies a central place: the crystal vase, a symbol of opulence, becomes both an anticipated ruin and a vestige of a possible future.
