for the kids 023 | what's stopping you? (5.17.24)
This week's episode marks another milestone for this series, and we would like to give full credit to
@pausebuttonll and
@mundialmag for telling one of the most engaging pieces on grassroots football that we've read in fine print. So it's only right that we've decided to adopt this story for your hearing pleasure.
Founded by Jung Jihyun in 2019,
@nuttyfc_ continues to breathe life into a country whose love for football runs 22 years strong. Women's football may still have a long way to go both in South Korea, but a multidisciplinary approach to its endless possibilities is what Nutty FC does best, and the happiness they consistently exercise remains a step in the right direction. Just google any astroturf pitch across Seoul, and they'll turn up there without question.
On the other side of this episode's coin is Microhabitat, a film that defines happiness differently, even if a relentlessly competitive environment constantly puts its characters at stake of losing something greater than what they've previously sacrificed. Nonetheless, it's a stellar debut feature that prides itself on the smallest joys that brighten up its grim surroundings.
We also mentioned that
@darnell_duckworth had a musical epiphany over these last three weeks. This could be a minor case of post-Eurovision depression, but it may very well be the culturally specific canon event that is our beloved host becoming fully steeped in K-Pop. If that thing in particular is to your distaste, then other shows exist. Trust us when we say that they're not going to be getting out of it anytime soon.
This week's rotation was also painfully difficult to assemble, as several girl group songs were axed in the process. To EXID and MAMAMOO, we'll spin your tunes soon enough.
Oh, and those darned cake girls made it to this week's tunes yet again. We can't get enough of their B-sides either, but who could really blame us? Just keep watching the space.
And free Joost Klein.
