It’s been quite a week putting together our Debut show for bedtime sonic fables from scratch in Auroville. As always, we were inspired to choose a rather unconventional venue and move away from the usual performance spaces. We transformed a Barn, tucked inside a lovely community in Auroville into a space for an audio visual performance. Swipe to the end to see Butterfly Barn in it’s raw form. Cymatics is the study of visible sound and vibration, exploring how acoustic frequencies create geometric patterns in physical mediums like sand, water, or metal plates. Super excited to finalllyyy bring our new set Bedtime Sonic Fables to life! This is a piece composed to transport listeners through a dream-like journey, mirroring the fluid transitions of our sleep cycle. Dhrupad is a form of Indian classical vocal music that is contemplative by design. Its slow, deliberate alap (improvised opening) centres on precise sound, breath, and resonance, inviting stillness, sustained attention, and a sense of inner quiet. In their Sleep Series for Jñāna, @pause.dxa weaves Dhrupad vocal improvisation, one of the oldest living Indian classical traditions, with electronic drones and contemporary acoustic instruments, creating a layered and introspective field of listening. These sound immersions are designed to encourage deep rest: slowing the breath, settling the nervous system, and creating space for renewal and reflection. pause.dxa is an immersive sound experience project by Sahitya and Harsh. Sahitya is a Dhrupad vocalist and pianist; Harsh is a mathematics educator and sound researcher. Both trained at the SVARAM Sound Experience program in Auroville. He currently gains increasing joy in embroidering coded computational processes to create sonic situations. He has trained in art history and digital media. More recently he has been a researcher at Compart, Bremen.
