“The talent of Dariescu is undeniable; it appears to exist naturally and spring from a place of deep passion, resulting in an effortless demonstration of artistry, executed with precision and grace. Also acting as compere for the evening, she was able to connect with the audience with charming anecdotes and create an intimate environment in which to share the music. In her playing, she is balletic and expressive, yet precise and steadfast and utterly committed to the music. As a person, she comes across as humble and sympathetic and doesn’t mind sharing the spotlight with the rest of the talents that made the concert possible.
The evening ends with standing ovations from the crowd and an encore by Villa-Lobos that ‘is so quick that if you blink, you’ll miss it’. Dariescu is brilliant in the mesmerising ‘O Polichinelo’, knowing precisely what compels an audience. Well worth the cheering and applause, the evening with Dariescu and ASMF was a delight from start to finish.
Dariescu’s Mozart is energetic, vibrant and regal… dazzling pianistic flourishes of the movement felt as fresh as ever.

Intended for the London Film Festival and all the events surrounding it, the theme was ‘Women in Film’. 🎬
When we say ‘women in film’ most will immediately think of women on screen. We imagine the movie stars we love, framed by the male gaze. We rarely think of the women behind the camera. There’s a reason for that: there’s still not enough of them.
LONDNR has always gone against the grain and fought to promote creatives and the arts industries. We think this issue stays true to that mission, and we’ve tried to make it a real Molotov cocktail to arm and entertain.

On a visit to any windmill you will see several sets of chains, cogwheels, or gearing — these are essential for the transfer of motion from the sails sweeping around at a majestic rate to the spinning of the millstones at high speed.
These photos were from a photoshoot a few years ago at Brixton Windmill by London photographer @paulmarcmitchell .
He was commissioned by Citiigold, a leading international bank, to produce a coffee table photography book - ‘Secret London’ which explored and embraced what is often missed even by lifelong Londoners.
