I always love returning as the guest expert on “Meet the Press” @meetthepress because we get to dive a bit deeper and address more complex conversations relevant to the topics. For me, being intentional about how race impacts policing outcomes is an important conversation that needs to be had. I’m frequently lecturing and doing talks with various groups educating folks about the challenges, but it’s equally important to share proven solutions and best practices regarding the race disparities as well. The more didactic conversations there are, the more folks can come together to institutionalize solutions. I know that talks like these make a difference, so thanks for tuning in and sharing with your own networks to increase the advocacy towards solutions! -and make sure that you check out the art from all the #Blackartists in my office! @mcoreyw @patrickdougher @uzo.art #blackartcollector #protectblackart #kappaalphapsi

I just finished my talk at the SF MoMA @sfmoma discussing the shifting economy and the impact on both communities and artists of color when I got the call from the gallery. My new epic masterpiece is finally ready, and I can’t tell you how excited (and humbled) I am about my latest piece. Y’all this iconic photographic work by Carrie Mae Weems elevates my whole collection! #hendersonartcollection Here’s more details about the signed (on the back) black an white photo: Untitled (Woman Feeding Bird), Kitchen Table Series 1990 is part of a production that literally changed the art world. Y’all know when I won the auction, I immediately went and got the book about the series that featured the photograph of my piece as well -and I can’t stop going to look at the art! In the seminal series of work, celebrated artist Carrie Mae Weems staged and photographed a fictional drama in which she plays the lead. The setting is always the same: a small room with a table and a single overhead light. From this modest setup, the artist creates an entire world. The kitchen, traditionally considered a female space, has rarely been pictured as a site of importance. Weems turns this idea on its head. She suggests the kitchen table is the real stage where life’s biggest moments play out, and where the full range of human emotions is expressed.  The series compellingly examines women’s lives. It boldly asserts, in particular, Black womanhood’s complexity, strength, and beauty. Carrie Mae Weems is considered one of the most in influential contemporary American artists. In a career spanning over 30 years, she has investigated family relationships, cultural identity, sexism, class, political systems, and the consequences of power. Weems’s black-and-white photographs are like mirrors, each reflecting a collective experience: how selfhood shifts through passage of time; the sudden distance between people, both passable and impassable; the roles that women accumulate and oscillate between; how life emanates from the small space we occupy in the world. Come through Black women artists! #blackartcollection #protectblackart✊🏾 #artcollector

I am honoured to have partnered with Black Art In America (BAIA) during their remarkable West Coast debut at the San Francisco Art Fair. Addressing the critical need for broader diversity within major art fairs, BAIA’s presence creates essential space to showcase the incredible talent of artists of color. Their mission is not only to amplify diverse artistic voices but also to cultivate and introduce more collectors of color to artwork that resonates. It was truly inspiring to engage with a community passionate about fostering a truly inclusive art world. Let’s continue the conversation. We didn’t even finish the walk today before she decided that it was time to go back home for a nap… #haitianbulldog (Yes, she knows she’s French, but it’s a black household, so she is Haitian!)

An incredible evening at Arion Press celebrating the intersection of history, art, and the written word. 🖋️✨ I love being in a community that comes together in celebration of literature and art! And that we keep finding ways to approach the significance of our constitution (especially in these difficult times). We gathered for a private dinner hosted by the incomparable Stanlee Gatti to honor the publication of DECLARE: A Civic Gospel. This artist book, created in partnership with Monticello, marks the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in such a profound, tactile way. One of the he highlights of the night was hearing from Arthur Sze. Listening to the former U.S. Poet Laureate read from the collection brought a powerful contemporary lens to our founding civic ideals. 📖⚖️ Deeply grateful to be part of the 56 Signers Campaign and to support the preservation of these vital stories through the craft of fine press printing. #artadvocate #56signers #bookcollectors #menwhoreadbooks

There is a unique power in seeing an artist’s work from the walls of your own collection to the storied galleries of @sfmoma ! It was a privilege to spend time today with Carla Williams, whose practice continues to redefine how we engage with history and the self. Y'all know I've been honoring (stalking) her work for years now! I'm so appreciative of Asst. Curator Delphine Sims for bringing such an important show and talk to SF! The artist's piece Side Braid (from the series How to Read Character) is such a vital part of the dialogue surrounding identity and authorship, reminding us that a photograph is never just a fixed moment, but a living archive. Grateful for the lunch, the deep conversation, and the opportunity to hear her insights ahead of her artist talk for the (Re)Constructing History exhibition. If you haven’t seen the show yet, it’s a profound look at how we imagine the layers of history embedded within the present. A huge thank you to Carla for the inspiration and for her continued impact on the visual landscape of San Francisco and beyond. #ContemporaryArt #BlackPhotography #ArtCollecting #IdentityInArt #ArtAndDialogue

I'm so excited about my talk this weekend! There is a unique “magic” in the Santa Cruz Mountains that invites a different kind of conversation. This Sunday, I’m headed to the prestigious Djerassi Resident Artists Program for a WALK+TALK panel on the beauty and responsibility of art collecting. I love how design, culture, and art are elevated through an insightful conversation, and this is one not to miss. We’ll be diving into the stories behind our first acquisitions, the evolution of personal taste, and what it means to truly live with a collection. For me, art has always been about reclaiming narratives and building cultural capital—I’m looking forward to exploring how those themes resonate in such an intimate, natural setting. Looking forward to a deep dive with Ginny Duncan, Josefin Lundahl, and Yuri.

Please join us at the SF Main Public Library on Tuesday evening as we discuss my new book Penetrating Whiteness and the events that have led us to the present moment. With the re-emergence of white nationalist movements, and growing threats to democracy, Ralph Remington's Penetrating Whiteness: How White Supremacy Built America is a clarion call. This timely collection of essays offers insights into the realities of racism, sexism, and homophobia. The author will discuss his new book with Paul Henderson and boldly confront the uncomfortable truths about the persisting toxicity of white supremacy and systemic discrimination.  Prior to joining the City and County of San Francisco as Director of Cultural Affairs for the San Francisco Arts Commission, Ralph Remington served as the Deputy Director for Arts and Culture for the City of Tempe, Arizona. He also previously served as the former Western Regional Director and Assistant Executive Director for Actors Equity Association in Los Angeles. Prior to that, he was Director of Theater and Musical Theater at the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) in Washington, D.C. In 2010, he received the NEA Chairman's Distinguished Service Award. Remington was a City Council member for the City of Minneapolis and is a former Guthrie Theater Acting Company member and is the founding Producing Artistic Director of award-winning Pillsbury House Theatre in South Minneapolis. A US Army veteran, Remington has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama from Howard University.  Paul Henderson has spent his entire professional career working in public service for the city of San Francisco and most recently was appointed Director of the Department of Police Accountability, where he and his legal team are tasked with investigating all complaints regarding police use of force and misconduct.  Prior to this appointment, Henderson spent 7 years as the Deputy Chief of Staff & Public Safety Director to the former Mayor of the City of San Francisco, Edwin M. Lee. From 1995-2010 He was Chief of Administration and prosecutor for then District Attorney of San Francisco, Kamala Harris. Henderson was recently awarded California’s Lawyer of the Year.

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be joining Spiralis Gallery in Easton, MD, for a special Curator’s Panel on Saturday, April 25, in support of their powerful new exhibition, Shall We Gather at the River. Curated by the visionary Zsudayka Nzinga Terrell, this exhibition explores water not just as a natural resource, but as a profound conduit for culture, identity, and memory. I’ll be sitting down with scholar Jean-Daniel Lafontant and featured artists to dive deep into the intersections of art, social justice, and preservation. As a lawyer and strategist, I often look at how we document our histories. During this talk, I’m looking forward to exploring: • Water as Memory: How art can recover erased narratives and oral histories where the law often only sees “documentation.” • Water as Power: A look at environmental justice—who controls our water, whose stories are preserved through it, and the impact of privatization on underrepresented communities. • Water as Movement: Examining the emotional and geopolitical weight of migration, borders, and the African Diaspora. We will also be discussing how art collecting serves as a vital pathway to generational wealth and cultural preservation. If you are on the East Coast, please join us for this important dialogue on how we can use art as a tool for civic engagement and collective healing. Event Details: 📅 When: Saturday, April 25, 2026 | 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM 📍 Where: Spiralis Gallery | 35 Dover St, Easton, MD 🎟 Admission: Free and open to the public Learn more at spiralisgallery.com or follow @spiralisgallery for updates. #ArtAndJustice #Blackartcollector #artadvocate #CulturalPreservation #SocialImpact
