“Water ties us together in such a beautiful and graceful way. It’s a call for respect and rejoice” Pat McCabe (Weyakpa Najin Win, Woman Stands Shining) We’ve collaborated with @epsoneurope to create ‘Water Silks’ – a limited edition collection of EcoVero ‘Silk’ scarves celebrating the rivers and canals of Europe’s fashion capitals. Our aim; to shine a light on the industry’s water footprint. The collection re-imagines the Thames, Seine, Navigli and Spree. Each design shares the ancient story of each water system and highlights the intimate relationship between our environment and the clothes we wear. Printing with digital printers that use pigment inks, such as Epsons Monna Lisa, can reduce water consumption in the colour printing stage of clothing production by up to 97%* 1 NAVIGLI RIPPLES [MILAN] A visual celebration of the interconnected canal system once used to distribute marble. We’ve reflected the city’s five canals through five photographic layers, reminiscent of sliced marble, bringing creative vibrancy and flow to these man-made rivers. 2 THAMES DARK WATERS [LONDON] The design for the Thames is informed by its ancient Celtic name, “Tamesis” meaning dark waters. It celebrates the potent power and aerial shape of the river and dynamic city life found in all directions along its banks and beyond. 3 SPREE STRIPES [BERLIN] “Sprewa” from the ancient Celtic spreutaną, means ‘to spring forth’. This design references the iconic shapes and repeating rhythms seen and felt across the city through its fashion, architecture, music and design industries. 4 SEINE SOURCE [PARIS] The Seine’s ancient name “Sequana” is Source Goddess, or healing deity of the springs. The design for Paris’ famous river nods to the city’s 20 districts, or Arrondissements, arranged in a clockwise spiral, intersected by the water. *The source of the 97% comes from the Fuluhashi Environmental Institute, 2024 “Report on Direct Water Input in Digital Textile Printing.” Profits generated from sales of the ‘Water Silks’ will go to @chooseearth — supporting front-line indigenous activities and initiatives. 🌀 Find out more and shop the collection via link in bio

🌀 SHAPED BY WATER 🌀 A SENSORIAL INSTALLATION LAUNCHING AT MILAN DESIGN WEEK Google Design Studios Ivy Ross with Lachlan Turczan Back in 2021 PATTERNITY co-founder @anna_spirals had the honour and watery joy of joining creative forces with and connecting the dots between long-time friends and collaborators Ivy Ross (vice president of hardware design of Google) and @lachlanturczan (water, light and sound artist)

Together they conceived and co-created Shaped by Water; an exhibition that aims to "offer an immersive, sensorial experience exploring our connection to water as humans and as a source of inspiration for design"

Shaped by Water will run from 10AM to 5:30PM, 18-23 April at Garage 21, Via Archimede 26, 20129 Milan, Italy.

"In addition to being an integral component to human life, water influences our connection to the planet and informs how we view everything around us." Images via Google & @coolhunting We’ll be sharing more about the installation live from Milan this week so keep an eye on our stories 🌀👁️

Patterns are a way for us to understand the deeper realms.. the creativity that connects our outer universe with our inner lives. Through patterns the unseen becomes seen… Since we launched back in 2009 our mission has centred around helping people see and appreciate the beauty that is all around and deep within us. To sense the conscious creativity of all that is. Thank you for joining us on that journey so far.. we are planting seeds for the next spiral of what is to come ♾ @anna_spirals patternity cofounder #awayofseeing #wisdom #beauty #pattern

“I thought the earth remembered me, she took me back so tenderly, arranging her dark skirts, her pockets full of lichens and seeds. I slept as never before, a stone on the river bed, nothing between me and the white fire of the stars but my thoughts, and they floated light as moths among the branches of the perfect trees” — Mary Oliver 🌀

NOTICE MORE “The simple things are also the most extraordinary things, and only the wise can see them.” – Paulo Coelho We’re often so busy rushing from A to B that we forget to really look around us. What if today, you slowed down your pace a little, took a breath and noticed the patterns you otherwise might miss? Revel in the beauty of the mundane. How does it make you feel? We find capturing pattern helps us honour and show gratitude to our surroundings. Share what you see at #patternity We love these observations in light by fellow patternists @anna__patternity @amalioseh and @azwellgallery #noticemore #bemorecurious #everydayexcellence #pattern #patternobserver #magicinthemundane #light #reflections #stainedglass #glass #shadow #everydaybeauty

"To see a world in a grain of sand and a heaven in a wildflower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand and eternity in an hour." William Blake @samhodgeart creates art from what he finds, including making pigments from the landscape. This red earth was collected in North Devon. If you look closely, the cracks in the paint look like tiny rivulets. Universes are mirrored from the micro to the macro. We always love seeing art created by our community; if you want us to share your work, tag us #patternity #redearth #redochre #devon #findingpigment #makingpigment #foraging #makeink #makepaint #earthpigments #rivulets #artandecology #ecoart #pattern #patternobserver #williamblake

CEREMONIAL CITY After 50 years in the making, Michael Heizer's mammoth land work "City" opens in Nevada's high desert. "City" is 1.5 miles long, half a mile wide, and contains earthen mounds, geoglyphs and concrete pyramids. Structures were built mainly from materials at hand. They can be found curiously placed, dreamlike, across seemingly curved undulations that mimic a motorway. Only from the air does the layout finally resolve into an elegant glyph. "City is intentionally reminiscent of many ancient ceremonial constructions through its complexity and size, but its form is suggestive of the central hub or nucleus of a modern city," said Triple Aught Foundation Visiting is no easy feat; you have to book a reservation via the Triple Aught Foundation and then get dropped off at an undisclosed location. Would you make the journey? Photos by @Jamie.Hawkesworth #citymichaelheizer #michaelheizer #landart #earthwork #sculpture #outdoorart #publicart #geoglyph #pyramid #ceremonialsite #indigenous #tripleaughtfoundation #jamiehawkesworth #patterninspiration #patternobserver #pattern

OUR BODIES AND THE EARTH ARE ONE Indigenous intelligence recognises that our bodies mirror the Earth and the Earth mirrors our bodies. We are Earth. The Choose Earth collective brought to life the words and cosmovisions of Indigenous leaders @guajajarasonia and @celia.xakriaba in our “The Future is Ancestral” installation at @barbicancentre This illustration symbolises Earth and body as nourishment and creative mother. Mountain springs and streams bring forth life as do a mother’s milk. Today, we are standing with Indigenous communities across South America as Brazil moves through a pivotal political moment. As we fight to protect the Amazon, we must fight to protect the bodies of those who defend it. #chooseearth #chooselove #barbican #thebarbican #indigenousintelligence #indigenousknowledge #indigenouscosmology #weareearth #wearenature #ourtimeonearthexhibition #ourtimeonearth #indigenousrising #patternity #brazil #brazilelection #mother #motherearth

LIVING TRACES Do you know what wildlife these tracks belong to? We’re constantly finding inspiration in unusual places, like this surreal series captured by @brunodamicisphoto These photographs show the marks that animals leave behind them. What can these tracks tell us about that creature? What stories do they tell? Sometimes more can be discovered in absence than in presence. #patternity #patternobserver #tracking #trackinganimals #conservation #patterninspiration #trackingwildlife #desert #sand #animalmarkings #animalpatterns #nature #naturephotography
