This week: Alt Projects is pleased to announce 𝘠𝘪 𝘎𝘢𝘰 & 𝘗𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘞𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘺: 𝘚𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘈𝘭𝘭, a two-person exhibition featuring paintings by Yi Gao and ceramic sculptures by Pilar Wiley. The opening reception is on Sunday April 19th, 2-5pm. Named after a poem by William Carlos Williams in which life slowly reemerges after a harsh winter, the exhibition reflects the artists’ shared interest in exploring states of transformation and becoming. Together, the two Los Angeles-based artists evoke a natural world in flux: structures dissolve, forms mutate, and new configurations gradually emerge. To RSVP or to schedule an appointment, please email [email protected] Yi Gao @_yi__ Pilar Wiley @pattern_language Curated by Sean Arenas @sean_arenas Poster Design: Nicholas Ismael Martinez @ismael.nm - Yi Gao (b. "As Air, As Water" is up through May 1 @lacc.vama Come see this delightful show in the beating heart of Los Angeles 💓𝕃𝔸ℂℂ💓 LACC VAMA Gallery 855 N Vermont Ave Da Vinci Hall M-Th, 9-5 Fri 11-4 pm Sat by appointment Los Angeles City College and the Visual and Media Arts Department are proud to present the exhibition As Air, As Water. Like the elements named in its title, the exhibition evokes forces that splinter infinitely. Air and water move without fixed direction, shaping their paths through subtle pressure and dispersal. As Air, As Water considers how artworks occupy space not only as discrete objects and domestic goods, but as presences that meet us: palpable, suspended, and held in our common atmosphere. Presented along a singular horizon, the exhibition brings together twenty artists whose works both complement and challenge the conditions of the encounter. Installed on a continuous shelf that traces the gallery’s perimeter, the viewers approach the works sequentially, oscillating between intimate and collective rhythm. Across this axis, each work emerges in conversation with the next, sometimes attuned to one another–at others in dissonance. As the viewer moves through the exhibition, surfaces, edges, and forms take on greater precedence allowing the objects to assert their position in relation to one another. This too becomes a subtle force with the capability of leaving last impressions, profound and discoverable. As Air, As Water features Francis Alÿs, Juan Capistran, Coleman Collins, Patricia Fernandez, Eve Fowler, Erik Frydenborg, Olivia Gibian, Julia Haft-Candell, Evan Holloway, Alice Könitz, Shana Lutker, Joey Lehman Morris, David Muenzer, Alisa Ochoa, Ruben Ochoa, Matt Paweski, Brannon Rockwell-Charland Cook, Sam Shoemaker, Oscar Tuazon, Pilar Wiley. Organized by Andrés Janacua @chilchotarose March 19-May 1, 2026 Los Angeles City College, VAMA Gallery 855 N Vermont Ave 90029
