"Ecstacy of the Cat Mother" or "Ekstase der Katzenmutter" I've been working on this for quite some time, eeking out bits of time here and there. I don't know where or how my mind came up with this one! Reflecting, these aren't all kittens, some are full grown! So the vagina is more of like a cave or like a kangaroos pouch. A safe place. A spell is cast. Some ancient Bastet spirit. Ecstatic pleasure at the thought of birthing cats...nurturing the cat spirit? Do we need to know everything? Sometimes the quality of the question asked is as important as the answer.

#bethabaravich #textilartist #realityisbeautiful Sure I wish I was younger or thinner but why? Our minds are conditioned through very subtle cues that we need to fit into a certain type, look, weight, attitude, demeanor, etc. It's wonderful to see our bodies as unique, artful, and glorious!
Middle section for #wip #boobsaredelicious That's just what came to my mind! It's funny. When I want to draw a hand, I take a pic of my hand and draw from that....same goes for legs, arms, body poses....but breasts?? I think our relationship to the parts of our bodies that no one but a rare few sees is so fraught. We build up this wall that we aren't beautiful when we SO are.
I had an epiphany at aqua aerobics a few months back. I looked up from the pool and I saw all of these people in all of their varied shapes and sizes. All of them were so beautiful, it's like I finally could see without the veil of commercialized beauty in my way. I was overwhelmed with emotion.
So when I wanted to do this piece, I took pictures of my naked self. I still didn't think it would work, or I would get any material that would say what I wanted it to say. But I did. Changing years of social training doesn't just happen overnight. It takes time.
