This past Saturday I had one of the best experiences in San Francisco over the last few years. It was a special lunch that takes place monthly at @themorris_sf .
A fixed price lunch that includes a buffet of house made charcuterie and fresh local oysters. Followed by an amazing roast chicken with French fries and finished with a buffet of desserts.
We found some very well priced Chenin Blanc with age on the amazing wine list and our service was executed perfectly by Mr @peinbund .
I highly recommend checking it out. I’ll be there next month for sure!!!
The three tier system. It’s been a controversial subject for a very long time. Many winemakers hate the system because the believe it takes money out of their pockets.
I have a different opinion. I actually think that the three tier system is beneficial and helps small producers like myself maneuver wines from the winery to the consumers.

It was a week ago today Patrick Cappiello concluded his vision of an updated remake of the legendary Paris Tasting of 1976 with “The 76 Redo”. After years of planning, selecting judges, picking the wines, 40 finalists were selected in four varietal categories, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chenin Blanc, & Syrah. Five American & five French wines in each category. 12 of the most diverse & insightful judges selected the finalists @smithereensnyc while @vanessalenoreprice@ryanmillsknapp & @jentman along with Proctor @pascalinelepeltier helped organize & run the event. The results were surprising. Go to for more info & the results. More importantly, listen to the podcast, @patrickwine lays out everything beautifully. The 76 Redo idea came about from winemaker Patrick Cappiello a few years ago during the beginning of tough times for the wine industry and the idea that “people need to support American wine more”. He came up with his vision to recreate the legendary Paris Tasting of 1976, an event that changed modern wine. The 76 Redo started with hundreds of wine submissions, dozens of judges and now, a finale in NYC with 40 wines spanning four varietals including Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chenin Blanc and Syrah. Five wines from the US and five wines from France were selected.
A diverse group of 12 judges took time out of their busy schedules to select the final wines. For a complete list of the finalists & winners, go to for more info. We sat with @patrickwine to discuss all aspects of the competition, the mechanics, his trials & tribulations the winners & more. @the76redo #sommelier #thegrapenation @hristoz@nikitajarred@andrehmack@vicfrites@crum_pet@vickidenig@jodi.mixon@joshuanadel@l__eaux@eddiesade@missyneill@migueld1@pascalinelepeltier@vanessalenoreprice@ryanmillsknapp@jentman #the76redo @thegrapenation #webringwinetothepeople LISTEN NOW- LINK INTO BIO or wherever you get your pods!
And finally there is me @patrickwine
I was a Sommelier in NYC for a very long time. Now I make wine in California. When I’m not coming up with crazy ideas like @the76redo . I’m usually somewhere in the US knocking on doors trying to keep my fledgling winery @monteriocellars afloat.
Otherwise you can find me on a beach somewhere on the Sonoma Coast with my amazing fiancée @grass_puppy with our two boys Hudson and Bowie.
See y’all tomorrow ❤️
The 12 judges of @the76redo ✨
My appreciation for your time, and willingness to share your knowledge and experience, is hard to put into words.
Many of you I’ve known for decades some I’ve not gotten to know yet, but am looking forward to it. The journey we are going on is meant to elevate the world of wine, and bring some excitement into a space that has been full of discouragement as of late.
All I can say is thank you ❤️🙏🥰
Been meaning to post this for a while now. An amazing interview with Steven Spurrier for @munchies

Mousy kimchi?!? A startling revelation to me!
I made a new batch of Kimchi a few weeks ago and my first taste today was really interesting. And disappointing:(
It sent me down a rabbit hole that lead to an awesome article about Mouse taint by @simonjwoolf
