I will be slowing down on the KAP front for the next few weeks
in the run up to my exhibition,
at Gallery 66, Old High Street Folkestone 10-23rd June,
(you are all welcome to the PV on the 12th).
But thereafter it will wind up again
as the book designs are now pretty much sorted (thank you @Caroline.jefford )
so the the book is one step closer.
I will be doing a post about that shortly.

THE 2026 EXHIBITION
CONTEMPORARY BRITISH PORTRAIT PAINTERS
The Contemporary British Portrait Painters return to the Department Store in Brixton this June with a bold, vibrant exhibition featuring work by over 50 artists pushing contemporary portraiture in exciting new directions.
Expect an incredible mix of painting, drawing and experimentation - alongside live demos and behind the scenes insight into how the work is made.
Huge thanks to our supporters: The Heatherley School of Fine Art, Cass Art and Avenue Print for helping bring the show and catalogue to life.
Most works are for sale, and because CBPP takes no commission, every sale directly supports the artists involved.

Past month or so in a blur, so here’s a photo dump.
Started the Turps course, meet a bunch of lovely artists, plotting new paintings, a couple of #wip pieces taking shape. I’ve started recording these rough voice notes about ideas, hearing them back makes everything feel more workable. Saw the #peterdoig show and the #evapade show, and went to the #INGdiscerningeye PV, where I had a painting in the mix. Also did the slightly awkward school-yard approach, asking mums I barely know to sit for paintings.
Now I just need to paint more.

Excited to be part of this year’s Horatio’s Garden Art Auction.
This amazing charity creates beautiful, restorative spaces that truly transform the lives of people living with spinal injuries. I had the privilege of visiting last year and saw firsthand the incredible work they do.
The auction runs between 9-26 October featuring works by more than 70 of the UK’s leading artists including Quentin Blake, Sophie Ryder, Mark Coreth, Sarah Armstrong-Jones and Lucy Kent.
It’s a wonderful opportunity to own one of my pieces at an accessible price while supporting such an important cause.

I’m pleased to share that this painting will be shown in this year’s @ingdiscerningeye exhibition at the Mall Galleries. My thanks to @curtisartist for the invitation. The private view is on 13 November, with the exhibition running from 14-23 November. It will be exciting to see the diverse range of works brought together in this context.

This piece marks the beginning of a shift in my practice, moving from drawing into painting. While drawing has been central to my work for some time, painting offers a different register, one that foregrounds process, material, and duration in ways I want to engage with more directly. Presenting this first work publicly feels like an important point of departure.
The timing coincides with my participation in the inaugural Turps Margate painting course, which I begin next week. For some time I’ve felt caught between ideas, uncertain how best to move forward. Painting feels like a way to reconfigure that uncertainty: to explore not only what an image depicts, but also what is enacted through its making. I’m interested in how the act of painting can hold equal weight to the subject itself, shifting the emphasis toward a more embodied and process-driven understanding of my work.
