I never imagined I’d own a studio, but after 5 wonderful years the feeling has sunk in. It happened so quick I never really got to give the place an identity.
So here we are, Primary Colour, a corner of the earth for creative minds.

And what an amazing five years It’s been! A list of some of the friends I’ve welcomed in. I never imagined I’d get to meet such amazing folk.
From helping @ohdaughter forge out their sublime record Stereo Mind Game, climbing Haytor with @carolineplz and @dannylharle , to finishing a new album with @lyrband . It’s been tonnes of fun.

Woop!!! @blossomcaldarone opens the door and lets fly her EP ‘might smash a window’ today.
Blossom asked me to work on a few tracks late in 2024. I’d been off for a while being a new dad, and finding my production feet again. We found moments throughout 2025 to get together and chip away at the EP, slowly building up the tracks bit by bit. Blossom loved to deconstruct to construct again, and I found it fascinating to help imagine her ideas, using the time away from the studio as reflection on where we were. I feel grateful to be able to work as a producer, and this EP is a milestone in my career as I learn to be a working parent.

Almost ten years of being a member of @lyrband and I couldn’t be more proud of our achievements. We’ve accomplished a lot as a group, and this new record feels like a peacock feather in the creative cap.
From a production standpoint, I learned so much making this record. I decided to approach it by sounds rather than shape, manipulating and twisting tones and instruments until I had the electronic and organic world working together musically. It was a record that was shaped by the studio and the weird collection of stuff I’ve compiled through the years. Springs, chimes, taped pianos, cassettes, drift wood. It’s all in there!

If @lyrband have one itch they can’t stop scratching it’s the bewildering noise and colour of contemporary society, a world full of networking opportunities and communication devices where disconnectedness is the result; both musically and textually this track Blah! Blah! Blah! embodies that contradiction.
The album, Dark Sky Reservation, is out next week.

'Dark Sky Reservation': The song refers to those geographical areas where light pollution is outlawed, where, on cloudless nights, we can see pinpricks and patterns of light that have been part of our consciousness since the dawn of humanity. We love a contradiction and play with the idea that it’s only during the greatest darkness that we can perceive such vast distances. The song takes us beyond twilight, to the place where dreams begin and where fears and fantasies are amplified and magnified

As part of the new year I’ve been reflecting on the musical milestones of the past five years. Some of these have been writing in a bedroom, others have been long days sat behind a desk in my studio. It’s all been life changing!
