It’s hard to put into words how proud I am of this kid!! I know very few people that have handled such massive adversity with the grace and strength of Clare McGowan. Facing a brutal autoimmune disorder diagnosis right out of high school, you kept your head up and built an amazing life and academic career for yourself. Through situations that would make many people throw in the towel, you walked your path with dignity and accomplished some truly incredible things. You have worked so hard and surrounded yourself with wonderful people. It brings me so much joy to see how stoked you are about all the research you’re doing, I can’t wait to see what you do next! You’re an amazing young woman, and for you the sky is the limit. We are all rooting for you as you start your next chapter as a PhD candidate!! I love you so much 🫶🏼🫂

Wrapping up an epic and weird month on the road. It’s been a crazy period of deep suffering and intense joy, I’ve seen and done so much and have felt so wildly loved by my friends. Thank you to everyone (especially the Gardner family) who’s given me a couch to sleep on, an ear to listen and the occasional shoulder to cry on. I’ve been overwhelmed with love and support and am so grateful to the countless people who bring community and meaning to my life. I love you guys so much!

Spirit falls, April 16th
A moment that will live in my mind forever… was standing at the lip with @maxbogdanov2984 contemplating firing it up when the sun came out and lit up the pool. It felt like Gavin was there with us and I knew it was time to go. It’s really hard to put into words what this meant to me, and I would do a bad job if I tried. But I do want to say a huge thank you, to everybody and everything that kayaking has brought to my life in the last 5 years. I could never have imagined where the sport would take me when I was 21, donating plasma & desperately scraping money together to buy my first kayak. Much love to all the people who I’ve gotten to share a lap with & giggle my way down a river alongside. It’s good to be here!
