“It’s like Jedi [Mind Melt] if it were on a couple tren cycles and smoking crack”
We’re back baby—episode 6 with Mr. 6 foot LW himself is out now on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Link is in the bio, check it!
…and here’s a handful of ass whoopins, mistimed strokes, lapses in judgment, and other fun-to-watch but not all that fun-to-experience clips. My 2022 VBC submission for the Kayak Carnage category #yaliveandyalearn
Cleaning up the hard drive and found a couple nostalgic Video Boater Challenge entries from 2022 that I sent to @cornwell101 quite late and thus never saw the big screen. Here’s my submission for the “America’s Best Whitewater” category
Managed a 5:32:39 and 35th out of 145 fellas in the Run the Rock 50k this past weekend. A few takeaways:
1) If you’re 19 miles deep and losing motivation, trip and eat shit on a gravel road—the pain might just give you the adrenaline boost you need.
2) Intentional training, even if it isn’t a religious 12-week regime, goes a long way.
3) Carrying a couple extra ounces of water will not cost you nearly as much time as hubris and dehydration will.
Overall I am happy with my time and the effort I put forth, but what I’m most proud of is soldiering on despite the espresso machine at check-in being broken. To my surprise, the body can still operate at a high level without three shots of jet fuel to start the day. But I still hope that never happens again.

Photo dump from the Northern rip! 10 days of hiking & paddling around Washington & BC with my lovely lady and some other peeps along the way. Thanks to Angela for being the best road trip partner a man could ask for, and cheers to friends new & old for some high quality Cheak laps and a surprise Robe Canyon to send me home with a big smile on my face. Feeling grateful!
My phone camera is absolutely shot but Angela got me this dope ass camera clip for my backpack so lugging the Nikon around the mountains isn’t such a pain in the ass anymore. Here’s a little photo dump from this past weekend exploring Mt. Thielsen and Crater Lake with a stellar crew 🏔️🐶
Listen in as I put Spirit under the microscope with a true connoisseur on The Rapid Series. Share with your peeps, comment your opinions, and follow along on Spotify—link is in the bio. Enjoy! 🇺🇸🦅📸 @eparkermedia
Got my first Spirit lap a couple weeks ago and wasn’t terribly happy with it—I was trying to keep the body quiet and let the bow drop naturally, and in doing so I ended up completely disengaging my core for the second half of the freefall and took a pretty decent clap at the bottom; it got the job done but it wasn’t what I had envisioned. This morning I tried to do just a little bit more with the lower half, hoping to find that fine line between lifting the knees too much and rag dolling in the air, and I was much happier with the line I was able to execute. Stoked to be able to paddle these beautiful rivers and make those micro adjustments come to fruition. It feels good to feel good! 📸 @holdenpetty
So so so happy to have had my parents in town for a week. Had a blast getting to show them the goods around Oregon—spent a day on the coast, a day in the Gorge, and a day in the Cascades, with lots of chilling and good eats in between. After them putting me on to all the cool spots in Southern Appalachia growing up, it felt like I was able to return the favor and show them some of my favorite landscapes in this corner of the country. My heart is full ❤️
