Pathway Group was proud to sponsor the 2026 Power of Your Purse Gala hosted by United Way of Salt Lake!
Last Friday, we joined hundreds of incredible community members for an inspiring evening centered around this year's theme: Rooted in Purpose. The night brought together thoughtful leaders, passionate advocates, and generous hearts all united by a shared vision of 100% of Utah kids and families thriving.
At Pathway Group, we believe that strong communities are built when we show up for one another. Events like this remind us how much that work matters. Congratulations to United Way of Salt Lake and Women United on another remarkable evening!

Last week, Pathway Partner Amberlie Phillips brought her expertise to the Utah Refugee Center, facilitating a training on Raising Funds and Diversifying Funding Sources for leaders of Refugee Capacity Building Grant (RCBG) organizations through Utah's Department of Workforce Services. We're proud to support the growth and sustainability of refugee-led nonprofits across our community!
At Pathway Group, we believe that a strong fundraising plan starts with clarity and that includes understanding what is fueling your success!
In today’s Pathway Perspective, Missy Dawson shares how breaking down your true fundraising costs can unlock smarter, more confident decision-making. When you see the full picture, you are better equipped to invest in what is working, strengthen what is growing, and plan intentionally for what is next.
Thoughtful investment helps move organizations forward by expanding impact, deepening relationships, and creating sustainable growth!
As you look ahead, where could a more strategic investment take you?

From Moab to Niagara Falls! This week brought together an incredible group of leaders at the Rural Partners Network conference, representing organizations, libraries, counties, school districts, and communities, all working toward stronger rural futures.
The conversations, connections, and ideas shared made this one of the most impactful conferences we have experienced.
Grateful to Promise Partnership Utah for making it possible, and to everyone showing up to do this important work.
Grant funding can be so competitive - so how are organizations standing out right now?
That’s where Brooke Clayton comes in!
As an Advisor at Pathway Group, Brooke focuses on grant research and writing, helping organizations strengthen their applications with clear data and measurable outcomes that show the full picture of their impact.
She wants every client to walk away feeling confident in what they’re building and supported with tools that help sustain it long-term. She brings a lot of energy to her work and genuinely cares about the missions behind every project.
Lately, she’s been seeing increased competition, especially for private foundation funding. Her go-to advice: start tracking your outcomes in a simple, consistent way. Even small steps can make a meaningful difference in how your work is understood and supported.
Outside of Pathway, Brooke is a passionate skier and serves part-time on ski patrol 🏔️ and she’s currently working on her first novel! ✍️

Grant success comes from more than submitting a strong application - it’s also about building meaningful relationships!
In this week’s Pathway Perspectives, Amanda McDonald shares about how many organizations with the most successful grant portfolios are the ones that prioritize stewardship at every stage: before, during, and long after a grant is awarded.
Funders aren’t just line items or submissions in a portal. They are partners in your mission! When you take the time to connect through thank you notes, site visits, updates, and shared stories of impact, you reinforce the value of their investment and deepen the relationship.
In a competitive funding landscape, relationships are what set organizations apart.
Consider this your reminder: send the email, make the call, write the note. Those small touchpoints are what truly move the needle.

Pathway Partner, Holly Yocom, had a fantastic time presenting at the PLA Conference in Minneapolis!
We loved seeing a packed room filled with passionate library professionals thinking about the future of building community through libraries.
A big thank you to Jeff Davis from @design.msrltd and Noah Baskett from @slcpl for joining the conversation and sharing insights on innovative funding approaches to build the libraries of the future.

Today marks the last day of Women's History Month and we are closing it out with full hearts.
At Pathway Group, we are proud to celebrate all women year-round as a certified women-owned business led by three incredible partners: Amberlie, Holly, and Joelle, whose vision, drive, and heart show up in all they do.
Happy Women's History Month from our team to yours!
There's something special about getting support from someone who has truly been in your shoes!
Sarah Farr, Advisor at Pathway Group, is a former nonprofit executive director herself. She knows firsthand what it takes to grow a small organization, lead a team, and carry the weight of a mission. That experience shapes everything about how she shows up for her clients!
At Pathway, Sarah specializes in board training, strategic development, and fundraising work. And she doesn't just consult from a distance - she is genuinely invested in the nonprofits she works with, becoming just as passionate about their mission as the people who built them.
Outside of work, Sarah and her husband are enjoying a new chapter as empty nesters, which means more time for travel, reading, and getting outside as much as possible.
We're so glad to have her perspective and heart on the Pathway team. Stay tuned for more spotlights coming soon!
In last week’s Pathway Perspectives, Joelle asked a question we can’t stop thinking about: Are you running on a treadmill, or building a movement?
It costs 5x more to acquire a new donor than to retain one which means the strongest path forward may already be in front of you!
Your donors have said yes! With intentional care, gratitude, and connection, those relationships can grow into something even more powerful. Not just donors, but a community that stays and advocates alongside you.

Are your fundraising efforts paying off or are you spending a lot to raise too little?
In this week's Pathway Perspectives, Joelle breaks down three ratios every nonprofit fundraiser should know:
1. Fancy Party Trap: If it costs you $70K to raise $100K, it is likely time to reassess. The benchmark to aim for: a 75/25 split, keeping expenses at or below 25% of what you raise.
2. Are you running on a Treadmill or Building a Movement? It costs five times more to acquire a new donor than to keep an existing one. Are you investing in the relationships you already have?
3. Hustle vs. Harvest: If 90% of your time is going to social media and newsletters, who's cultivating the major donors? Make sure you know where your big dollars are actually coming from.

For the sixth consecutive year, Pathway Group was proud to stand alongside the Women of the World Fashion Show.
What started as an intimate gathering has grown into a sold-out celebration, uniting 400 attendees in honor of culture, strength, and resilience, raising awareness and vital support for the incredible refugee and displaced women who are part of our community.
Being part of an evening dedicated to amplifying their stories and honoring their journeys is something we are truly grateful for. We look forward to continuing this important work for years to come!
