❎THURSDAY 14th MAY - JAMES DIXON GIG POSTONED ❎ We've had to make the painful decision to cancel this upcoming event and we want to be open with you about why. Advance ticket sales didn't reach the level we needed to confidently cover our costs and pay everyone fairly, from the artists, the promoters, the staff and everyone else running the space behind the scenes. That's the reality of running a small, independent venue - we can't gamble on the night when the overheads are already committed. It stings. This was exactly the kind of event we're proud to champion - diverse, different, the sort of thing that doesn't happen everywhere. And that's what makes this harder. We really, really need your support. Funding for the arts is pretty much non-existent - so far this year we've only managed to secure one very small grant (which we are still obviously very thankful for, but compared to previous years there's so little support around, and bidding for grants has become near impossible to win it seems). Buying tickets in advance massively helps us determine whether we can keep putting gigs on and also supports your community, musicians/artists and the local people employed by us. We'll let you know when this one will be rescheduled 💓

Thursday 14th May! After a sold out show last month I’m so excited to bring @jamesdixonmusic to @patchworkstudios on the 14th May. James Dixon is an emerging songwriter self-described as Anglo-Celtic Soul. He fuses the transatlantic folk-blues of the 60s/70s revival with the power and dirt of the grunge and rock he was raised on.  Luther Dickinson (North Mississippi Allstars) described him as a “genuine Troubadour straight out of the old school”. Earning a reputation as a deeply passionate performer, Seasick Steve called him simply “the best support act I’ve ever had”. The songs James writes can tell narrow stories of immediate experience and the minor interactions between people and the natural world or give sweeping and sharp commentaries on the social and political picture. Whatever he writes about, it will always, as a rule, truthfully express his spirit, or be discarded. His guitar style has been described as “red in tooth and claw” and vocals as “powerful...gentle when needed”. Plus support @kittycrockermusic Doors at 7pm  Music starts 7.30pm and finishes 10pm. This is a seated performance. Tickets here: /events/alex-hart-presents-james-dixon-tickets-7L2GZB #jamesdixon #kittycrocker #patchworkstudios #cornwall #cornish

THURSDAY 9TH APRIL - over half the tickets sold!!! We’re back again hosting 4 special shows this year at Patchwork Studios in Cornwall. Hosted by myself, Alex Hart, I’m bringing you some top quality music to the heart of the rame peninsula. Burr Island is an emerging UK-based indie-folk duo formed by best friends Tom England and Oskar Porter. Known for their close harmonies and melodic, introspective, and melancholic sound, they have received praise from industry giants like Robert Plant, Paul Weller, and Pete Townshend. FRESH OFF A TOUR WITH ROBERT PLANT! These two are incredible, I have loved their music for a long time and so blown away by their live sound, if you like close vocal harmony and indie/folk music then this is the show for you. Their music is heavily influenced by artists like Simon & Garfunkel, Nick Drake, and Crosby, Stills & Nash. After recording at Kundalini Studios in Devon with Steve Cradock (Ocean Colour Scene, The Specials), their first four singles garnered support from BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 2, BBC Introducing, Radio X, BBC Radio London, BBC Radio Bristol & BBC Radio Scotland. Recent live shows include UK Tours supporting Ocean Colour Scene and Tunde (Voice of Lighthouse Family), playing at some iconic venues, Hammersmith Eventim Apollo & Barrowlands Ballroom to name a couple. They also played to a sold out audience at Union Chapel, supporting Paul Weller as well as two sell out London headline shows. “A special weave of voice and harmony”. - Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) “Shades of Simon & Garfunkel”. - Mark Radcliffe (BBC Radio 2) “Sounding so beautiful but scathing, lyrically. What a combination.” - John Kennedy (Radio X) Plus support from @thegleaves Doors at 7pm Music starts 7.30 and finishes 10pm @burr_island_band @patchworkstudios @alexhartmusic #cornwall #burrislandband #indiefolk #cornish #southwest TIX IN BIO! DOORS 7PM Music starts at 7.30pm and ends around 10pm SUTHERING consists of Julu and Heg, whose harmonies weave effortlessly through their original songs, paired with gentle guitar and emotive piano arrangements, transporting audiences into a world of timeless storytelling. Known for their chemistry and humour on stage, they effortlessly intertwine their important messages about the state of our climate, social conscience, and the importance of community and connecting with nature. Tavi Pride continues as an annual event which includes a large parade and festival. Julu and Heg are passionate about advocating for the LGBTQ+ community and for the rights of women and other marginalised people, through their music and through community engagement.
