We’re incredibly excited for the 2026 Nebraska Day of Percussion tomorrow! Here are the remaining guest artists who will be giving presentations throughout the day. Check out the descriptions below:
“Rhythm & Percussion with Hand Signs”
This session is all about making music together using simple hand signals to guide the group. We’ll play, improvise, and build grooves together!
“Syncing Senses” In this lecture recital, Kyle will present data from his research recital and how it can be applied to the modern performer with performances of works by Psathas and Wharton. At the start of this session, audience members are invited to join the performance by coming up to participate in creating art. “Creative Applications to Drumset Method Books”
This presentation will analyze how authors of drum set method books approach and utilize the concept of additional creative applications, and how it can be practically applied across different skill and educational levels. We will then explore how to practically apply additional creative applications across three different skill levels (beginner, intermediate, and advanced) using a mix of drum set and non-drum set centered material, such as a drum set comping book or a snare drum etude book.
“From Idea to Ensemble”
A look at how UNL Indoor was created from the ground up, highlighting practical strategies for starting an indoor percussion program with limited resources and building a meaningful experience for students.
We are incredibly excited to be joined by our two guest artists for this year’s Day of Percussion @tommy.dobbs and @dylanbassettpercussion ! Check out descriptions for their masterclasses below:
“Accessories Before the Act: How to Prevent Criminal Sounds Within Your Percussion Section”
The clinic is centered on percussion instruments often overlooked: tambourine, cymbals, and triangle. This clinic combines live demonstrations with performances from the standard band and orchestral repertoire, discussions of the fundamental techniques and sound concepts behind each instrument, and hands-on audience participation. “Samba Rhythms From the Streets of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil”
I am super excited to share amazing music from the city of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, one of the powerhouses of percussion in the world. Here, Blocos Afros parade with 200+ drummers for Carnaval, and drums can be heard reverberating through the streets year-round. In this workshop, you’ll learn rhythms from some of the most famous blocos, including Ilê Aiyê, Olodum, Didá, & Timbalada. Get ready to groove!
