Began in the mid 2000s as a genre of electronic music and is influenced by the 1980s film soundtracks and video games, it is characterised by its retro-future aesthetic and use of blues, pinks and purples. It expresses nostalgia for the 1980s culture, attempting to capture the era’s atmosphere and celebrate it.
