We welcome @__hameedullah to the listening room on May 24th from 2pm - 6pm for lecture #002 Hailing from Chicago, educator, beatmaker, and DJ, Hameedullah takes and blends from his disciplines to create music and experiences that are uniquely his own. Under his label @luntandoglesby the artists passion for vinyl, event curation, and electronic music is platformed and championed through his self-released projects, inventive programming, and online content. A staple at @miyagirecordshop Hameedullah also teaches and mentors Chicago’s emerging DJs and youth with introduction level courses. We welcome @jessesandwich to the listening room on May 31st from 2pm - 6pm for lecture #003 featuring a live performance + vinyl LP release by @_c_u_t_shaw Jesse Sandwich is an artist, DJ, musician, and experimental collaborator, that has been promoting quality in musical communities for over 15 years. As a resident DJ and curator at some of Chicago’s more well known music establishments (Danny’s, Sportsman’s Club, Estereo, and currently The California Clipper) he began his career focusing on sonic atmospheres, visions, and moods. Under his label @areaman_chicago variety of sound is essential, and unknown or under-appreciated music from around the world is Jesse’s particular focus. Cutshaw is the long-gestating project of synth veterans Cameron Brand, Mike Broers & Scott McGaughey. Imaginary landscapes steeped in energetic library music, this Chicago trio guides you with a David Toop book under one arm and a Tom Noonan flick looping in the back of your mind. Samples wash over you, a #buchlamusiceasel becomes the perfect percussionist, and house vibes soothe. This is music for the dance floor as much as it is music for your headphones. “Good things don’t have to be complicated” Malcolm Martin, professionally known as Thelonious Martin or King Thelonious is an American hip hop record producer from Chicago, Illinois. He is a member of the Chicago collective Savemoney along with Vic Mensa and Chance The Rapper. In this clip @kingthelonious discusses his production credits on “As of Now” the debut album by @jahmonteogbon for the UK-based label @lexrecords and on how producers make the best A&R’s.

Lord Jah-Monte Ogbon is an underground hip-hop artist from Charlotte, North Carolina, known for his prolific output, witty storytelling, and signature “jewelry rap” style. He is currently signed to Lex Records and recently released his major label debut, “As of Now” which earned the “Best New Music” title from Pitchfork in early 2026. In this clip @jahmonteogbon discusses his humble beginnings in music and on how life experience builds character. “As of Now” is available on vinyl at and streaming on all major DSP’s. It was an absolute pleasure hosting this intimate listening session with @thevinylcollectiv and learning more about the artist behind the music.

Thaione Davis is an accomplished underground hip-hop producer and emcee based in Chicago. He is known for being a meticulous producer who has released multiple projects on vinyl and CD. He is also a member of the Nacrobats, a legendary Chicago hip-hop super-crew founded by Pugs Atomz in 1993, known for its influence on the 90s Chicago underground scene contributing to both the domestic & international market.
