We traveled to Paris to film this year’s LG Guggenheim Award recipient Shu Lea Cheang @shulea2 I recorded all the interviews and sound with @deitymicrophones S-Mic2, S-Mic2s, and W.Lav Pro. Then later took the files back to New York where I created original music and sound design using @arturia_official MicroFreak, @vermonagear PERfourMER MKII, @somasynths_us Lyra-8 from @soma_laboratory @somasynths , and various other analog synths from @wearenovation @rolandsynthandaira , etc. Thanks to @deitymicrophones for sending me the amazing mics. Last week, @arturia_official with director/videographer @de9rek did a story on me making music for @burberry using Microfreak The Burberry video was directed by my talented friend @zjforeal featuring @miakong999 of @dazedchina . I was so excited and shared the news with my friend. Unfortunately, he passed away a few days ago, for reasons unknown. He directed many videos for big fashion brands and we worked together on Burberry, Marshall Headphones, XStep, and many more. He didn't sleep for days before he passed away and was always working hard to achieve greatness. I broke down mentally and couldn't fathom how my friend could possibly end his life. I wanted to share our story as an inspiration and reminder on how we can all achieve our dreams if we keep going, and for anyone who is feeling down just hang in there. It might seem like a long journey but it will get better, and people are cheering for you. Sometimes we’re just trapped in a bird cage It’s been over 2 years and this is one of my proudest music and sound design work that I have done thanks to my talented director friend @zjforeal . He helped me opened many doors and possibilities. Starting @miakong999 of @dazedchina , I scored this in @ableton using orchestra sample libraries, synths, and most notably the Microfreak by @arturia_official It’s now 2023 and I have already started working with more amazing people around me. Being back in Taipei, a lot of things felt different, yet many things stayed the same. Overall it’s like how I remembered but the vibes have shifted.
