Jenna Sutela ‘Pond Brain’ (PAN 162) Lathe-cut record
@jennasutela presents ‘With each cycle, a brain’, her debut solo show in the UK at the
@nicolettafioruccifoundation in London opening today until the 23rd of May 2026, curated by
@vittoria.totale .
The opening is accompanied by a very limited art edition lathe-cut of 70 unique resin records with pond flora inside as part of PAN’s Entopia soundtrack series. Since the grooves are malleable, each play sounds different.
The exhibition includes a site-specific iteration of Pond Brain, a sculptural sound installation, at once instrument and fountain, inspired by ‘alt’ cybernetic ideas about ponds as self-regulating, living systems. The water-filled bronze piece, forged as the artist’s neuroplastic portrait, resembles a spouting bowl orchestrating feedback loops of sonic vibrations and dancing droplets. A microphone listens to its splashes, chance events in the room, and recordings of Sutela playing it, setting into motion an ever-changing sound environment generated from oceanic and interplanetary audio libraries: star pulses, dolphin vocalizations, and beyond.
Thank you
