“What is there funny to say about Cyprus?”
Apparently… enough to gather 20+ comedians from around the world, put them in the same city, and let them figure it out.
Big thank you to
@melissa_hekkers for taking the time to write this piece— not just about me, but about the strange, beautiful, chaotic little thing we’re trying to build with Stantar Kkomety.
Seeing these photos from the festival feels a bit unreal. A few years ago, the idea of an international comedy festival in Cyprus sounded like the setup to a joke. Now we are getting ready to announce the 4th edition.
Cyprus is tiny, but somehow the drama is full-size. The contradictions are Olympic. The identity crisis has multiple departments. And yes — there is lots of funny to go around.
Thank you Melissa for seeing the heart behind the madness.
And thank you to everyone who has been part of this community — on stage, backstage, in the audience, sharing posters, buying tickets, laughing loudly, or just asking “μα ποιος εν τούτος;”
We’re still here.
Still joking.
Still building.
The 4th Annual International
@stantarkkomety_cy festival will be with you in October 1-4 at Genethliou Mitella street.
