Hit Boston and Philadelphia to celebrate my birthday with my sister @metalkira and my Neice @brenna_photos . Thanks to my amazing wife @dallasinjectorlauren for always spoiling me. I spent a lot of time in Philly when I was younger and always had fond memories. It was good to check up on it after so many years. The Philadelphia art museum probably played a big role in igniting my love of art museums, so it was great to be in that glorious building once more. Had some great meals at Ostra in Boston, also at Prunella and Vernick Fish in Philly. Back to the diet for me I've gotta get shredded for the midlife crisis vibes.
It's so fitting that it's raining here today. My friend and collaborator Shailaun completed her mission last night. I've been sad about this for the last 2 years but I've carried on because that's what I know she would want for me. I met Shai through @slikkmuzik and from the moment we worked we together, it was so obvious that we had found a good match. As we got to know each other I learned that she was @fcmgusa1 and @joshhurtmusic cousin and those are my brothers for REAL since the early 2000s! So we were family one way or another. As we made the Spread Love album we grew to be friends , always making silly ass jokes and faces. Anyone who knows me knows that humor is my life blood. It's literally how I'm still here. I always say I laugh to keep from crying. Shai and I were ALWAYS laughing. Sometimes I have dark humor but Shailaun doesn't really like dark humor. She likes silly humor like fart jokes, so our inner children were safe to come out and play. Shailaun was funny. However, like all great dualities : Shailaun was INTENSE. Even when it drove me crazy I loved her intensity. I've always been enamored with artistic intensity but somewhere along the way (probably with Rejane Magloire RIP) I really grew to cherish powerful, female artistic passion and to do my best to facilitate it or stay out of its way. There's something so beautiful about the female artist. Like she's channeling that mother energy and pushing this vision out into the world. Shailaun gave me beautiful ideas and the space and resources to create them. Shailaun never bullshitted me and made me better and everyone I've worked with since 2019 has gotten some of the sauce she brought out of me. She also designed the Element Sound logo without any input from me. There's no need to go into the details of the battle she fought over the last 2 years. Its different than an album or any other project but she tackled it just the same: with the full force of her spirit. I'm glad that she's no longer suffering and doesn't have to feel any pain. Last time I saw Shailaun I held her hand and told her "you did everything you were supposed to do". And I believe that. Love you forever sister.
