Media Engagement as a Tool for Environmental Advocacy and Public Awareness
In anticipation of World Clean-Up Day and the activities planned by the @oyoenvironment starting today and tomorrow, I was privileged to attend a media stakeholder meeting with the Commissioner on Tuesday.
The discussions focused on the critical role of new media and content creation in driving advocacy and raising public awareness about environmental issues. I commend the ministry for their renewed commitment to engaging the public, particularly through the newly established Twitter handle, which has strengthened communication around the government’s environmental initiatives.
There were also important concerns raised regarding the sustainability of certain policies, and it was reassuring to receive assurances that these programs are designed to be continuous, not isolated events. As an environmental enthusiast and social change advocate, I feel honored that the concerns I have raised in the past are being addressed constructively, without being perceived as opposition or a lobbyist.
May Oyo State continue to pursue this path of growth and meaningful reform.

@oyoenvironment AT WORK
The presence of activities of the workers of Oyo State Ministry of Environment has been noticed all week long as I took a drive around the city centre to monitor the progress made so far. From Sango to UI, Akinyemi to Ring-road to Challenge, from Iyaganku to Mokola etc...
I have over the years become one of the critics of how littered and unattended the road median have become without adequate attention. However, it is commendable to see that the current administration is about to do things differently.
I hereby, use this medium to appeal to our people to kindly bag their wastes properly before they drop them along the road median for easy pick ups by the waste management contractors. Going forward, I am proposing that the contractor collaborate with the ministry by providing waste bins at some designated centres to enable free the medians of silt.
I have a feeling that the new guy who heads this ministry wants to impress and change the face of state and our public image. The sustainability of this current move is very key to a safer, cleaner, and greener environment.
Slide to the last two images to see how they used to look before the current intervention...
May @oyostategovt continue to be on the path of progress.

Adieu!
We have been going round the city to sensitize our people on the current pandemic.
Let's stay safe and clean!. We showed our people proper hand washing techniques on the streets of Ogunpa and Agbeni markets.... washing our hands properly with soap, clean and running water is one of the ways we can prevent this pandemic in our dear state.
