A great day on site at our Lakeside project. The corrugated metallic silver siding is starting to go up at the garage. Playfully catching the light – a subtle reference to ripples of the water nearby. Grateful for the trades working carefully to bring the details together, and for clients who share our excitement for contemporary materials, thoughtful restraint, and the small moments that make a project feel connected to its place. Celebrating a small milestone for our #ShorewoodStudio, now in for permit. Designed as a place to make noise and keep creative work close to home, the project helps make room for a growing family - shifting work out of the house so the family can remain rooted in place.

Welcoming a new voice to our Side Wall Gallery: Stephanie Severance. Her work "Light in the Shadows" holds a quiet strength, and light becomes a way of seeing both ourselves and each other with more care. Rooted in her work as both photographer and art therapist, Stephanie’s practice reminds us that creative expression can be a space for reflection, connection, and healing. algorithmic, yet handmade — a collage of realism with a touch of fade. laid down the glasses of yesterday forging paths, meandering as they may. skipped 101, straight to graduate the school of the digital make. finding a place of play — tuning feral into finely tamed. creativity in the sway a reminder that ’obstacles are the way’ — lakeside visualizations made in the fall of 2025, for @oyam.studios & the talented @inconsistant , finding some creative play in a new way.

For the final post in our “words to work by” series, we’re highlighting the value that ties everything together: collaboration. By making our approach visible, we hope clients feel the spirit of how we work—listening closely, shaping ideas together, and creating spaces that reflect shared intentions. Icons by @madebyshore

Construction is underway on our Writer’s Retreat basement renovation with Sound Builders Northwest. The project brings together a quiet writing studio, a new living room and laundry space, plenty of custom built in casework for storage and a full wall dedicated to a well-loved vinyl collection - designed for a serious music enthusiast. Excited for our clients as this next chapter take shape.

As we head into year three, it's a busy season for the studio. From restaurant spaces to small residential renovations and art projects, we’re grateful for the work, our clients, our collaborators and all the people behind the scenes that make it possible. Looking forward to sharing more as several projects now under construction wrap up later this year.

Our “words to work by” series continues with a principle that speaks to the care behind every decision we make, from early sketches to final details. Naming these values is our way of being transparent about the level of attention and curiosity we bring to each project. Icons by @madebyshore

In 2010, the Colton Silo unraveled in a windstorm, pealed apart and showing how forces and time outside our control shape what we build. In Seeing and Making in Architecture: Design Exercises by Taiji Miyazaki, Bradly’s project 130,000 Nails is featured as a case study - mapping the physical energy required to pound 130,000 nails into a steel plate until the surface itself deformed. One structure undone by wind, another marked by effort. Both reminders that architecture carries the imprint of energy, labor, and lived experience.

Sketching out a starting point. Excited to be working alongside a few great small businesses on a new courtyard restaurant, a project where food, craft, and community all meet in the same place. Food is culture and architecture helps carry it forward.
