Hundreds showed up for an emergency protest at City Hall against the war in Iran after President Trump tweeted “A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.” in regards to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. He claimed attacks would begin at 8 PM Eastern Standard Time if it wasn’t opened by then. As the protest was starting, news broke that Trump was instead suspending the bombing and attack of Iran for two weeks. Speeches and chants against the American government continued and the crowd later marched to Day and Zimmerman, a company known for profiting off the genocide in Gaza, to continue protesting. The fight is far from over, but the working class people have the power. Make calls, get involved with your local orgs, BE LOUD, keep fighting.

📝@luisafernanda_1018 📷 @oxymor.on 🎨@luisafernanda_1018 #VozColectiva #ViolenciaPsicológica #MigrarTambiénDuele #mujeresmigrantes

At 2 Puntos Platform, we were proud to be part of the panel “Diversity in Media: Rewriting the Narrative for a New Era” at the WHYY News Civic Summit. It was a meaningful opportunity to share our work as a hyperlocal Philadelphia media outlet reporting on and uplifting voices from our Latine community. Spaces like this reinforce the importance of community-centered journalism and the responsibility we carry as storytellers. Thank you to the organizers, fellow panelists, and our community for continuing to support and engage with our work. ¡Gracias! 📝@nemesismora 📷 @oxymor.on 🎥@luisafernanda_1018

This Good Friday morning, Abortion Rights Philly and supporters were out defending Planned Parenthood against pro-life protestors. By 8 am, pro-choice advocates were around the corner protecting the entrance. Mission Youth came out for 40 Days for Life, “a campaign that aims to end abortion locally through prayer and fasting, community outreach, and a peaceful all-day vigil in front of abortion businesses.” They were in front of Planned Parenthood for about an hour before moving on to their next Good Friday event. This year’s turnout for Abortion Rights Philly was the biggest yet, and they raised almost $12,000 in pledges to fund abortions (which will be matched by @abortionfundpa ).

“In mid-2006, Clara Olivares became a bodega owner in South Philadelphia. Today, she owns EC Food Market in West Philadelphia, and feels a deep mix of pride and nostalgia for the hard work and long hours she has invested in being a bodeguera for nearly 20 years. When her two children were young, Olivares ran the grocery store with her husband. Looking back, she admits, “We lacked that quality time we should have devoted more to them.” Even though the family always lived just steps from the store — either upstairs or across the street — her children still resent the time their mother dedicated to the business while they were growing up.” - @nemesismora for @2puntosplatform , @metrophilly , @phljournocollab

“Labor of Loaf was born of small beginnings: Aimee Speas, proprietor and founder of the bakery, had no oven. As a result of a kitchen renovation, she was baking loaves of bread in her grill (and making her kids hand wash all the dishes). This small hobby soon blossomed into a full-time business and borderline obsession. Labor of Loaf, while based in Audubon, serves the surrounding local community and supplies everyone with the sourdough they crave. From focaccias, to cinnamon knots, this bakery serves a wide variety of sourdough bread creations. There is something for everyone. Get on her email list and head on over to porch pickup on Saturday mornings. You may or may not be greeted by a very loud, gray cat, but there will ALWAYS be bread.” 🥯🍞🥖🥨🥐 #tellingyourstoryportraits
