From April 11–14, our YDC PAL youth took on the 2026 Youth Mentoring Leadership Academy in Sacramento, and made every moment count!
From stepping inside the State Capitol to sharpening their leadership skills, our 7th–12th grade participants dove into hands-on trainings, heard from inspiring speakers, explored Old Sacramento, and celebrated it all at an unforgettable awards banquet & dance 💃🏽🎉
This wasn’t just a trip, it was a chance to grow, connect, and advocate for their communities alongside California Police Activities League 💙
The future is bright — and it’s led by these amazing young leaders 🌟

Buzz on over to Plaza Park on June 6, 2026, from 10 AM–4 PM for the 6th Annual Oxnard Insect Festival — a FREE, family-friendly celebration of insects and all things crawly! 🐞🐝
This year, we’re featuring ALL THINGS BEES, with Ventura Bee Rescue taking the Small Stage! 🐝
Get up close with live insects, learn from experts, touch (and even taste!) some creepy-cool critters, and explore the Butterfly Tent. Catch two episodes of NatGeo’s Secret Life of Bees at the Cricket Theater, and don’t miss the return of the Kids Insect Costume Contest to crown the cutest little critters.
Feeling adventurous? Head to the Main Stage for the Insect Tasting Panel, where our Tasting Panel will try dishes made with insects and embrace their inner entomophage! You can join in too—several of our 12 food vendors will be serving up insect-inspired bites, so keep an eye out on their menus.
Plus, enjoy music from DJ Ms. Alynette 🎶

We’re closing Open Gym this Wednesday, April 22nd and all PAL programs this Thursday, April 24th while we host this incredible evening of color, stories, art, and music.

The 3rd Annual Egg-ccessible Eggstravaganza was an egg-cellent success! 🐣🎉
Thank you to all the amazing families who came out and enjoyed this FREE community event. From 6 exciting rounds of egg hunts to bounce houses, bunny photo ops, a petting zoo, face painting, yard games, bubble zones, and rides on the City Corps Wagon Train, there was fun around every corner! 🚂✨
We loved celebrating with you all and can’t wait to see you again next year! 💛
📚✨ Big Buddy Little Buddy in action! Our Blackstock JHS students spent the afternoon reading with first graders from Hathaway at the South Branch Library, sharing picture books, building leadership skills, and spreading a love of reading. After story time, the group headed to the SOC Youth Center, where PAL staff hosted a colorful sand‑art activity to wrap up a fantastic visit.
Moments like these remind us how powerful mentorship can be, one book, one buddy at a time.
