🍊🏕🧡Thank you🍓🏖🌴 Communities of Santa Paula, Oxnard & Ventura I want to thank the communities that have welcomed me over the past five years in California 🌈 Creative Freedom Family for giving me the opportunity to participate in the latest abstract figure drawing workshop with Yumiko Glover it was truly a wonderful experience; I hope to collaborate with you in the future. 🥑 Oxnard Birthworkers for the opportunity to carry out my beloved doula work in this area, which is so new and different to me; I hope to continue supporting the communities. 🌸 A huge hug to my friend @molagueloera for always being there and sharing your beautiful art, smiles, and family with us; I hope we’ll always stay in touch no matter the distance. 🏞 Thank you @evan_clec for creating such amazing artwork in this area. It has been incredible to collaborate with you and showcase this beautiful art. Thank you to all the communities that stood by me during this time; it was the perfect setting for the tremendous growth we’ve experienced together with my family. Gracias gracias gracias 💕

Our trade post is this weekend on sat. May 2nd at 11 AM at @communityrootsoxnard Got gently used baby, maternity, and post partum items you want to trade/sell while you meet other values aligned parents? Roll through! (Don’t have anything and just want to meet other parents and picnic? 🧺 hell ya, come on by). This trade post is our way to decenter money as our primary currency. It’s also a way for us to get to know eachothers skills and services we could offer one another as we build the village we deserve. You can expect: chill vibes, potluck picnic, and maybe even walking away with some new items for yourself or your littles that have been pre-loved and full of memories. 🌱 RSVP in the link in our bio so we get a sense of the number of people to expect! 🫶🏽

We had to switch it up before Aries season ends and because we felt some fire brewing among members of our circle that need to be given space to burn 🔥 So let’s let it BURN! Join us this week for a convo on post partum RAGE!* Scream it out and maybe even hit a piñata with us as we dive into an emotion we often are not given the space to feel and express. Rage, and the anger behind it, often signals to us that there is injustice our body and mind are processing. And boy, with our country’s current healthcare system and lack of support for birthing people in America, do we know the feeling of injustice. As per usual, you can expect a rolling start time, snacks under the elm tree, and intentional conversations. 🌱 *PLZ NOTE: While mothering is an action for all people regardless of gender and ability to birth, this week’s convo centers the hormonal shifts and very real rage specific to birthing people’s experiences!

Join us for our next two circles as we dive into food, culture, and pride. Our co-founder @jennelyn___ will share her very own “goodnight little spam” children’s zine she wrote and published with @theoxnardplain in 2019 and facilitate a discussion on themes discussed in the zine, such as the complicated, yet comforting, topic of survival foods and how we can raise our children with pride in the foods they’re raised with even if it isn’t catering to a white lens/palette. For this two part convo we invite you to bring some food (or food stories) to share at our picnic that are important to you to carry on with your children! 🍗 🍝 🍔 🍜

Boundaries, Bodies, and Babies! Let’s talk about it. Do you ever wonder how you can talk to your child about the importance of consent? Last month the news of Cesar Chavez’s abuse to women and girls in the movement rocked our community. On a larger scale the newly released governmental files continue to allow predatory behavior to go unchecked. Join us as we share strategies on how to teach consent at an early age, set boundaries about our own needs and wants, and learn to respect other bodies, too!

Join us for our first ever weekend event on May 2nd between 11 - 2 PM at @communityrootsoxnard for our Circle for Radical Mothering Trade Post! This is not your usual market: it is a space where we intentionally aim to lean into our anti-capitalist values and decenter money as our primary exchange while helping our gently used items live a longer life. America’s economy is built off of the back of unpaid care labor of parents. Our society prioritizes the needs of able bodied working people and expects the care for our children and elderly to be outsourced or done in the shadows. This is our way of holding space for birthing people and making visible other forms of labor besides solely paid labor. We invite you to come with your gently used baby, prenatal, and post partum goods and services and sell or trade them with our community. If you’re interested in participating, fill out the link in our bio! 🌱

There’s truly something special about stepping out of the everyday urgency and need for productivity of American society and into @communityrootsoxnard with other mothers and their children to break bread, laugh, and feed our children together. This experience serves as a potent reminder that motherhood was never meant to be done alone. Tomorrow, the garden faces a critical moment. The current church who owns the land will be deciding the future of the space, and the land that the church sits on. Join us tomorrow, February 28 at 11 A.M. at @communityrootsoxnard for a stakeholder meeting to ensure that our community’s voice is heard. If you are unable to make the meeting, please share your support by messaging @communityrootsoxnard or by sharing their posts in your feed to promote the meeting and current circumstance.

Based on the rain ☔️ we’ll be canceling our in person circle tomorrow… but don’t let that stop you from our reflection prompt. For lunar new year we were going to reflect on stepping into the year of the horse and themes of power. We encourage you to reflect: what does power mean to you? How did you become cognizant of the concept of power growing up? How are you facilitating ways to share power with your child/ren? Answer in the comments and join us for our final circle in two weeks where the amazing @espiralbirthwork will be joining us to facilitate thoughtful dialogue on integrating your identity as a mother 🌱
