On a Tuesday afternoon, pull into the Old Armory Pavilion in Oxford, Mississippi, to find the bustling Oxford Community Market (@oxcm ). Farmers and vendors show organically grown vegetables and freshly baked breads, while customers, friends, and family make their rounds. The OXCM illustrates the potential of a farmers’ market to address food insecurity, boost the local food economy, and bring diverse members of the community together.

Longtime volunteers Jose and Carmen pick up fresh produce at the end of the market each week and deliver it to the @thepantryoxford ! (Little did Jose know when he volunteered for this task that he’d be required to pose for so many photos!) We are grateful for this partnership that gets fresh local food on more tables in our community!!
When OXCM farmers and food producers collaborate we celebrate!!! Look out for @soooulhealthy sweet onion seasoning featuring those gorgeous onions from @halleluyahgardens and a fresh batch of @tuladelphiafarms kraut made with HalleluYAH’s just-harvested cabbages!
Vendor collaborations and cross-promotions are a sign of a healthy, viable, and GROWING local food system and we LOVE to see it! Our market is about more than just weekly sales - it’s about building foundational relationships among local food stakeholders to expand opportunities for North Mississippi farm and food businesses! The value of farmers markets is in the connecting and collaborating that happens when we gather each week as colleagues - not competitors - to elevate our entire local food community. ❤️

Chef OJ of @gourmetministriesllc visited our friends at @chicorymarket to grab more fresh local ingredients for her Taste OXCM cooking demo today at the market! We are celebrating low-key summer days when the town slows down with Townie Tuesdays, showcasing old-school Oxford townie favorites!! Today, Chef OJ will honor local country cookin’ legend Mama Jo with a demo inspired by her classic Southern food and loaded with fresh local ingredients from @serendipityfamilyfarmms , Aldridge Farm, @cherrycreekorchards , @mardishoneyfarm , @thatsmycousinmel , @theoriginalgritgirl and @brownfamilydairy . We know this market likes to eat - so y’all better come hungry!!
