so… Taylor Swift got Person of the Year on Time… that didn’t sit right with me. So I made this, to recognize the people who actually deserve this. Look I like some of the Taylor Swift songs but she does not deserve this when the people of Palestine have been through the past 2 months. And for a journalism outlet to completely ignore that when they had Ukraine on the cover last year?? They’re more than capable of doing it. They just don’t want to. Because they don’t care. This is for @wizard_bisan1 , @byplestia , @motazazizagaza , @wael_eldahdouh . This for all the journalists that have been killed for trying to show the truth. This is for all the lives have been lost since the occupation of Palestine. Continue boycotting, continue calling ur reps, continue talking about it. In the past two months, I’ve seen the tides of public opinion shift and people waking up to the truth. It’s actually crazy because for decades it was made out to be very complicated. What really is complicated is the mental gymnastics you have to do to justify all of it. From the outside, trying to rationalize with what is being done is very complicated. It’s very complicated to justify all the years it’s happened. That’s complicated. But for the Palestinians, it’s very simple. They just want to live and be free. Not that complicated. Anyways, on the off chance Bisan, Plestia, Wael or Motaz see this. Thank you. Thank you for doing something that you shouldn’t have to do but yall do it anyways. The world is with you all.

posters designed during my workshop for @cropcons !! It was around Earth Day when we did this so that was on our minds. All designed within like an hour or so of actual design time. Coming up with a meaningful thing to say and creating a visual that goes along with it is what I really wanted to push in the workshop. Like how do you visually communicate your feelings or ideas that isn’t a client’s feelings or ideas. I feel like graphic design is always so tied to business that we put pressure on justifying work we wanna create with the same tools we make a livelihood. My very calm reaction to Claude being introduced into Adobe and other creative apps. I don’t even know what to call this. AI Agentic Conversational design??? They already did this we ChatGPT but it seems like they’re doubling down on this method of designing. Am I supposed to be impressed that you can now type out a sentence to tell Photoshop to do simple tasks? And I’m sure there’s more impressive things in can do. posters designed during my workshop for @commongroundfresno last month! Sharing my process in creating my posters but more importantly the writing aspect of designing for your personal work. The vintage style or any style for that matter is just a vessel for whatever you wanna communicate. Putting constraints like limited font choices can give you a bit more brain power to focus on clever text/image interactions and just writing something meaningful/funny. And everyone killed it tbh Also if you went to this workshop and I didn’t tag you please comment!! I forgot to get everyone’s usernames before it ended lol This was really fun and love meeting everyone within my city. Glad we could get together and do this and we shall be doing more with @commongroundfresno so if ur in the Central Valley follow along.

sometimes I question the role of creatives in the times we’re living now. But I think everyone person who’s done creative work or prone to just making anything has questioned the importance of creating. The only unique thing of creating in this time is the relationship of creativity and capital. It seems to me the only thing creativity is serving some sort of brand. It has been like that for time but as our economic disparities widen between the haves and the have nots, it’s becoming clear that you better put that creativity to make money for a brand. And as you read this you’re probably saying to yourself, well that’s how the world works, Ram. That’s just how it is. If you are thinking that and you call yourself a creative… isn’t that way of thinking a bit uncreative? Isn’t one of the role of creativity is to imagine. Imagine a world where creativity can be practiced not for profit, but for one’s enjoyment? Or is that too creative? Too unrealistic? Anyways just been feeling down but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. And many lights have been being lit. A better world is possible.

Unfortunately, you are going to stop thinking and make something and you’re gonna like how it turns out. That’s what you’re going to do today. FOR REAL No more thinking, only creating.
