‘Outside In’ opens TOMORROW featuring works from Amanda Bittner @mandabittner_studio , Jon Caterina @jonathan.caterina , Hannah Day @hsday.art and Kayla Goulden @kayla.goulden . October 18-21, 2024 | Opening reception Friday, October 18, 5-8pm

Additional hours Saturday, October 19 & Sunday, October 20, 2-6pm and Monday, October 21, 5-7pm Kayla Goulden is a photographer and practicing artist living in Portland, Maine. Growing up she was inspired and excited by the small details of everything that made up the coasts and woods of Maine. Whether inanimate objects or people around her, she found a way through photography to express her desire to reveal and describe these details and seemingly unnoticeable moments that frequently surround us in our everyday lives. Her works are attempts in revealing to her audience the need to preserve and ponder what we so easily overlook. Pictured: Kayla Goulden, “Map 1” Inkjet archival print, 36” x 45”, 2024

My work is created in local patches of wildness that invite an investigation self and surroundings. It’s here, on uneven rock and root, between glacial erratic and dying beech, that I write love notes in ink and oil paint. Their words are made up of gestural mark, a transcendent language, my own tongue to talk to the mute. To be amongst the mosquitoes and rain for sustained periods of time is both a meditation and a test of endurance. I question my role as a human in nature, seemingly an adversary, but my still and silent painting stance mirrors the posture of a tree: a reminder that I, too, am a part of this greater ecological system. FRIDAY!! “Nice to Formally Meet” opens this Friday at Over Here Studio ✨ September 20-23, 2024 | Opening reception Friday, September 20, 5-8pm

Additional hours Saturday, September 21 & Sunday, September 22, 2-6pm and Monday, September 23, 5-7pm “Nice To Formally Meet” invites viewers to embark on a journey through the rich landscape of texture, observation, and form. Each artist in this group exhibition presents work that transforms tactile and visual observations into compelling expressions of materiality and structure. Featuring works by Sam Giberson @sgiberson , Meg Hahn @mmeghahn , Kincaid Pearson @kincaidpearson , and Jimmy Viera @jimmyviera Jimmy Viera makes acrylic paintings on panels based on memory, gesture, and observations from the natural world. Through the use of masking he adds shapes to his pieces in much the same way a printmaker would add plates to their etching, layer by layer. The same painting may feature both the treeline of a forest and two centimeter section of fungus. Jimmy is interested in exploring the ways in which different natural systems connect and diverge. “Nice To Formally Meet” opens next week at Over Here Studio! September 20-23, 2024 | Opening reception Friday, September 20, 5-8pm Additional hours Saturday, September 21 & Sunday, September 22, 2-6pm and Monday, September 23, 5-7pm “Nice To Formally Meet” invites viewers to embark on a journey through the rich landscape of texture, observation, and form. Each artist in this group exhibition presents work that transforms tactile and visual observations into compelling expressions of materiality and structure. Featuring works by Sam Giberson @sgiberson , Meg Hahn @mmeghahn , Kincaid Pearson @kincaidpearson , and Jimmy Viera @jimmyviera Meg Hahn’s practice is rooted within the process of painting and drawing, and influenced by the formal qualities found from her surroundings. She is drawn to patterns, shapes, and colors that she collects through observation, such as architectural moments, cast shadows, and scenes from the everyday. She then build forms through drawing and cut paper, layering and composing geometric shapes together. Through color, she hopes to create an invitation for viewers to look more closely and slowly. She views painting as an intuitive back and forth between organizing a steadiness and then a disruption. Pictured: Meg Hahn, “Shape Pile (Yellow)”, acrylic on paper, 8” x 10,” 2023
