Dear, What a journey it was. We’d like to thank you for the warm support and the many conversations we’ve had. Our deepest gratitude goes to the artists whom we’ve had the privilege to represent and the enchanting encounters they brought about. With that, Otty Park closes her doors, but never the heart.

Ai is Japanese for love. It is a word we use in dutch when we hurt ourselves and it is A.I. ‘The flower bouquets, that had been dried over the past years and presented here in bone like, spinal cord ceramic vases, refer to the gift of giving. A universal act, to celebrate each other, during the good times and the bad. Much like other pieces in the exhibition which are the result of years of collecting and treasuring, the flowers radiate a sense of pure beauty, one which can only be attained through the passing of time.’ Spinal vases - 2023, Ceramics Bouquets- 2022/2023, dried flowers ‘Ai’ Benny Van den Meulengracht-Vrancx 02.06- 08.07.2023 @ottypark @bayny #gallery #borger #antwerpart #soloshow

LAISSE BÉTON Adrien Tirtiaux This weekend is the last chance to see the exhibition LAISSE BÉTON by Adrien Tirtiaux 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 The growing importance of a construction’s impact on the environment is discussed further in the new series La Carbonatation des ruines, a collection of plants made of broken concrete. Carbonation is a chemical process by which concrete structures absorb CO2 from the atmosphere. Depending on the sources, one can read that over the lifecycle of concrete carbonation will result in the reabsorption of a tenth to a third of the CO2 emitted when making cement. As this process is particularly effective in broken concrete - offering more surface in contact with the air -, will the ruins of the modern age help humanity to reduce its CO2 footprint? The exhibition runs until Saturday May 27- Finissage from 2-6 pm Welcome! 🍀 @ottypark #adrientirtiaux#ottypark#laissebeton#concretesculpture#beton

LAISSE BÉTON Adrien Tirtiaux Helix #6 (Endless Tower), 2022 Wood, steel, varnish, rammed earth Helix #5 (Objectif Terre), 2022 Wood, steel, cement, rammed earth Helix #7.1 (Triangles), 2023 Helix #7.2 (Marbré), 2023 Helix #7.3 (Béton de terre), 2023 Concrete, earth. Started three years ago, the Helix series consists of massive sculptures cast progressively with an integrated turning formwork, exposing a potentially infinite fabrication process. Whereas the first sculptures in the series looked like big concrete screws, the ones presented here explore the ancestral technique of rammed earth. Helix #5 (Objectif Terre) is the model of a participative sculpture conceived with the architecture faculty of UC Louvain-La-Neuve and built on Place des Sciences last spring with earth coming from a nearby construction site. Helix #6 (Endless Tower) is a proto- type for an observation tower made with prefabricated elements, which are progressively filled with earth collected directly from the site. Once the tower is dismantled, the main construction material goes back where it came from in the most natural way. The exhibition runs until Saturday May 27, and will be on view during the Antwerp Art Weekend, happening 18-21 May, 2023. Join us tomorrow for the opening of the exhibition LAISSE BÉTON by Adrien Tirtiaux between 17:00- 21:00. “Will the ruins of the modern age help humanity to reduce its CO2 footprint?” For his first solo exhibition in the gallery, Adrien Tirtiaux presents a new series of sculptural works, standing on their own but also serving as prototypes or sketches for the large-scale installations he is known for. Taking some distance from the heroic reinforced structures built in public space these recent years, LAISSE BÉTON shows concrete in a vulnerable light and explores alternative construction materials such as rammed earth. If concrete in ruins has long been a symbol for the end of the modernist ideal, it also alludes to the problematic ecological impact of the material and calls for a complex but necessary transition. Thereafter the exhibition runs until May 27, and will be on view during the Antwerp Art Weekend, happening 18-21 May, 2023. @ottypark #ottyparkgallery @adrientirtiaux #adrientirtiaux #béton #environment #antwerpart #contemporaryart #artantwerpweekend
