With their AW23 collection, arte explores the early digital era. From pixelated designs to the colour scheme, the collection centers on references to the origins of employing digital technology to bring life to the imaginary. Apart from using the usual contemporary equipment and methods for this shoot, it seemed apt to also create some images (3,4) with an early digital camera (5) I had laying around, to mesh in with the images of the looks and as a reference for the processing. The main accent colours of the collection serve as a backdrop - a nod to the ‘layers’ functionality, ubiquitous and essential today, but only came about with photoshop 3.0 in 1994. Grateful to have been able to explore the early digital age with everyone involved at @arteantwerp . special thanks to @bertonydasilva @stefandiels @ligiapoplawska

During the last visit to Benny’s studio, he was in full preparation of his second solo show Ai, which opens tomorrow evening. Apart from the new work, we talked about Uniform #1, a suit he developed for working in his studio, with the help of @elinewillemarck who drew out the patterns and put it together. These pieces are combined with an apron picked up in Tokyo and @fig.label slip ons. It’s been great fun and inspiring to be able to see Benny shape his own world, creating his own space, systems and attire to support and complement his ways of working. Benny will be showing new work, found relics, poetic writings and ceramics starting from tomorrow evening until July 8th at Otty Park in Antwerp. Merci @bayny @ottypark @laura.vanemelen

Images for @arteantwerp - The arte antwerp ss23 collection explores the bauhaus art school, well known for its major influence on all creative fields. Of particular interest is photography, which was in its infancy. At the time, a photograph was commonly perceived as a representation, a mere copy of nature. This notion was fully rejected by bauhaus. Moholy-Nagy saw the future of the medium, conducted many photographic experiments and wrote articles, culminating in the seminal ‘Malerei, Photographie, Film’ (1925). @elisa_defossez past september for @liesmertens.be in Lauttasaari, outside her atelier. We took a walk in the park in front of her building, talking about our shared love for Finland, collecting colours from certain places at a certain time - in our own individual way, and her concept of Nukomori : a feeling of warmth and coziness, perceived through all senses, present in her work. Got some good tips on Helsinki bookstores too, although I haven’t been able find the gems that she has picked up over time. (7)

A couple of weeks ago, Lies and her team released a new bag made from vegan leather sourced from grapes. As with the rest of her line, she draws inspiration from people - for the launch we visited Bianka & Daniel, two passionate winemakers who lent their name to the new bag, which snugly fits a bottle of their wine. Thanks to everyone at @liesmertens.be and to @biankaunddaniel for the warm welcome.

Had the pleasure of shooting the album art for From Belgium with Love, the debut album of @kidstagrammm Floréal, one of the earliest garden city expansions in Belgium, made for a great backdrop, as it was an early attempt at expanding existing cities and ameliorate people’s living conditions and improving social interaction. album artwork by @lucasheirbaut

Arte dropped their capsule collection created in collaboration with @samsung_be , merging technology and fashion. Starting from the blues and gradients apparent in the capsule and playing with the digital nature of the items, these are some of the resulting images. Merci to everyone at @arteantwerp and all who had a role in this project.
