Meet Alia Shafi (@aliabobia )! We’re stoked to have her in the Waheela R family this gravel race season. Alia has a busy race calendar ahead and we thought it would be fun to ask some fun questions ahead of her next block of races.
Why did you choose to work with Otso for gravel racing?
“As someone new to the gravel scene, Otso felt like the perfect fit. They bring a serious performance mindset while staying true to what drew us all to this sport in the first place - having fun!! That shows up in everything they do, from the bikes they build to how they support their athletes.”
How would you describe the ride of the Waheela R?
“It’s a Swiss Army knife. The wheelbase feels a little longer than most gravel bikes, which gives me a sense of control on sketchy descents. But at the same time, it’s light enough that I can still rip up the climbs. The aero frame keeps me moving on the flats, and when I’m not racing, the frame storage turns it into the perfect adventure rig. It just does everything.”
What are your 3-4 priority races on your calendar?
“I got my eyes on Oregon Trail, SBT and Big Sugar!”
What is your preferred feed zone snack that isn’t gel or goo or hydration mix?
“Nothing better than an ice cold coke!”
Good luck at your next few races and throughout the rest of the season @aliabobia ! #OtsoCycles
Our favorite bikepacking rig just got a little more real. The Fenrir is now available in chromoly steel in both pumpkin and indigo colorways. The Fenrir Steel was designed from the ground up for bikepacking. Where most bikes can feel wobbly when loaded with a week‘s worth of gear, Fenrir rides confident and strong as ever.
Build it with drop bars or flat bars, suspension fork or rigid fork, dropper post or rigid seatpost, and a mechanical or electronic drivetrain. Massive tire clearance keeps the Fenrir rolling on rough terrain, while extra frame and fork braze-ons are ready to carry gear for days or weeks on the trail. #OtsoCycles

Our friend @paul.kalifatidi over @theradavist wrote up a great review for our latest addition to the world of mountain bikes: the Hoot Steel. We loved what he had to say about this party hardtail and the photos were immaculate. 🤌
A couple quotes we loved:
"In my mind, I’ve started calling this bike Side-Hit Steve as it feels more eager to explore the sides of the trail than what’s right in front of it."
"I’m not the most talented rider and can’t throw cool shapes in the air, but the Hoot makes me forget that and squeezes just a bit of creativity out of my riding. I love how this turns the mundane into the memorable."
