Now available: Los Torogoces de Morazán: Sonic Rebellion in El Salvador by Benito Chica Argueta (Sebastián Torogoz) 🇸🇻 🔊 🚩 📬 purchase online for shipping or pickup via link in bio 🎻 purchase in-person in Madison, Cleveland, or Chicago during our Sebastián Torogoz tour dates 🪢 all proceeds to social and solidarity movements in El Salvador The “musical expression of the Salvadoran revolution,” Los Torogoces de Morazán were born in the mountains of Morazán in eastern El Salvador. Comprising oral testimony from Benito Chica Argueta (Sebastián Torogoz), a founding member of the group, in addition to firsthand accounts by others who collaborated with the collective, SONIC REBELLION IN EL SALVADOR is a compilation of historical events transformed into songs which filled a people in struggle for liberation with hope. In parallel with Radio Venceremos, the clandestine radio network operated by Frente Farabundo Martí para la Liberación Nacional (FMLN), the group gave a voice to the voiceless during times of great adversity throughout the armed conflict in El Salvador. Using historical memory as a tool against forgetting, and by intertwining music and moving testimonies, the Torogoces’ songbook rebels against a politics of forgetfulness—one which seeks to impose silence and the denial of liberation and peace, both past and present. In solidarity, organization, and struggle from Morazán to Chicago: ¡prohibido olvidar! La memoria transforma el dolor en esperanza La muerte en vida La impunidad en justicia Memory transforms pain into hope Death into life Impunity into justice With contributions by: Benito Chica Argueta (Sebastián Torogoz), Pilar Vázquez de Prada, Paco Fernández Segura, Rogelio Ponseele, Domingo Tobar Ramírez (Melo), Paolo Lüers, José Márquez, Marcelo Cruz Cruz, Editorial Revolucionaria del Pueblo “Ernesto Amaya,” Jesús Orta Ruiz (El Indio Naborí), and Jacob Lindgren. dear friends, I am writing to share a struggle that is taking place at my daughter's public school in Chicago and to ask for your support. The community garden and ecology program at Waters Elementary has been an incalculably wonderful space of sociality and pedagogy in the school and our community, built from a neglected urban corner of public infrastructure in Chicago with over 25 years of communal labor. It is in grave danger now of being defunded and reformulated by CPS (Chicago public school administration). This garden has found many ways to thrive with very little money and much love and voluntary work over the years. CPS has decided to cut its meager budget by 30%. This cut would be disastrous. We are fighting this neoliberal discipline and organizing our community in defense. Please consider signing our petition (url at the end of this post). This will help our struggle. You can learn more about the garden and its rich history and illuminating curriculum at /. Get in touch if you have any questions or want to find ways to help. Thank you friends! /p/raise-your-voice-for-waters-ecology

as a suspense building prelude to the publication announcement of the new extra large scapegoat issue (c/a/n/a/d/a delineating nation state capitalism) here's a partial array of what came before. other forms is so happy/honored to have worked with the scapegoat architecture, landscape, and political economy collective since ... 2012? following the amazing work of @cairolexicon . such an important and rare space within (and without) the architecture discipline for sustained anti capitalist critique. stay tuned for the next
