In 1997, artist Francis Alÿs (@francis_alys_official ) spent nine hours pushing a block of ice around Mexico City. As it became smaller, the artist used his feet to kick the ice along, until it eventually melted into nothing.
The performance was called Paradox of Praxis (Sometimes Making Something Leads to Nothing) and was a commentary on the disproportion between effort and result in much of Latin America.
