Today we co hosted a session that looked at how Borders – Greener pastures – Migrations and art are Imaginaries constructed in in our minds, framed by humans’ agreements, social norms/beliefs as tools for protection of our fundamental human rights but more for control of the prevailing economic model operational in our world today.
Just for setting records, historically borders were not always clearly defined or universally recognized, in regions like ours in Africa, may were set by our colonial captors without clear considerations of our peoples, our tribes and communities but it further entrenched division that didn’t reflect our natural or social landscapes.
With this in mind, it calls for us to see that since boarders are human made with clearly bias to favor profits over people , it can be re-imagined and altered. Borders – the rivers, the mountains, the lands representing the boundaries that separate us are not absolute but fluid constructs in real life terms dependent on historical, cultural political, economic social forces and agreements.
This conversation is a call on us to reflect on how we define ourselves as peoples and beings of the earth in the LIGHT OF OUR INTERCONNECTEDNESS AND GLOBAL SOCIETIES.
But today we looked at this conversation and framed it from the place of the artist, his conceptions, his processes, and his aspirations by this project
How do stories of illegal migration challenge the concept of borders as “imaginary lines”? Asking questions like
What role does art play in humanizing the narratives of individuals who cross these imaginary lines illegally?
What role does storytelling play in highlighting the resilience and agency of these migrants, who are often portrayed as victims?
How did you navigate the tension between portraying the harsh realities of illegal migration and maintaining empathy for migrants’ and their families’ experiences? ...

Last Week #Tuesday was a special day as we hosted an #excellentinspirational thought Elder #PaEniEhizibueEhikhamenor
This 93years Esan elder shared insights from his journeys as a photographer here in Benin City, and New York.
Aside the wise counsel about the photography craft, he also gave some nuggets to help life run smoothly.
“Yesterday is gone. Today is for you, today is your day, make good use of today. Tomorrow may not come “
“Allow no offense to come to you, in other words never be offended , those who offend others offends themselves. “
“As a photographer you must understand that the client is always correct “ …Ummh
Always make do with what you have from where you are!
