There are some things that a person would rather not write about, but nonetheless feel obliged to as a result of conditions reaching a point where the case for not breaking one’s silence becomes increasingly weaker than the case for breaking it. Throwing caution to the wind: The following is a link to a revised and expanded version of a once semi-private essay penned several years ago. It addresses the ongoing compulsion towards the ubiquitous prohibition and removal of taboo elements within various realms of art, culture, media, and academe; delving into how such censorship (including self-censorship) has resulted from sundry moral panics and mass hysterias increasingly propagated by the social order and power elite. A brief glimpse through the keyhole of topsy-turvy hypermodern existence, probing the open-ended question of how the psychological enjoyment of guilt, fear, and group narcissism/sadism came to replace the enjoyment of freedom within today's so-called "underground". /art-taboo-and-moralism-a-new-era-of-dogmatism-and-social-conformity/

Possum Productions is squeezing in one more show, this time at The Knoxville Baha'i Center. Back in town on their meandering tour: free jazz stalwart, Philadelphia native Jack Wright along with intrepid bassist Evan Lipson (the best improvising bassist since William Parker?), trumpeter Jonah Gelbart (of Jack's Spring Garden Music House circle of improvisers) and for this Knoxville show, free range and organic guitarist Jake Smith. The Almost Music ensemble promises to take you an a sonic adventure; not for the faint hearted. I will be reading a few accompanied poems also and will there be dancers? Maybe! Tea and possibly scones provided for this teatime concert!

I missed the cutoff age for Taglit-Birthright Israel long ago and later blew my chance for Honeymoon Israel (HMI) after my wife and I tied the knot in 2021. However, I recently managed to pull some strings through my years long connection moonlighting for the exemplary full-service talent management agency JEWISH UNOBTAINIUMSTEIN PRODUCTIONS™, and will now be flying a FREE DIRECT FIRST CLASS ALL-EXPENSES-PAID trip to the HOLY LAND this Summer! Todah rabah JUP! Btw, that's me pictured above with my very first JUP client @superbodypop way back in 2018. HMU if you're ready to take your career in show business to the next level like Bobbi and all the others- there are still a few client slots remaining...

🕯️🌀NEW RELEASE 🌀🕯️ The CDs for "That Which is Placed Upon The Alter" , my new duo album with Evan Lipson (bass), have landed in Los Angeles! Jake Smith (guitar) is featured as well. Co-released by Klanggalerie and H&S Ranch, which was an international collaboration 💪 This recording occurred the penultimate day of a large solo tour last spring, which ended up transforming my playing. For two weeks straight I played with locals in varying cities, mostly with very different music scenes, jumping in to improvise and "see what happens". I arrived in Knoxville (one of my spiritual homes) and then entered the studio with Evan and Jake exhausted but really charged at the same time. Yall, this is an extremely peculiar record which feels chaotic but still at the same time. This 15 second clip is a microscopic sample of 1.5 hours of music. Please give it a listen, I am proud of our work here🙏 Thanks for everyone involved, especially Evan who is ruthless in his pursuit for novelty. I'll be carrying these around until sold out, and as always, comrades receive a discount ❤️‍🔥 Slides are from the day we recorded, which includes gas that is nearly 2/3 cheaper, the Tennessee River, and the golden orb of peace and love. @jesmithmusic @orgone_unknown @klanggalerie @hnsranch

Tuesday, November 18th 2025 Mama Tried Brooklyn, NY LEGION OF STRATEGIC DECEPTION KATIE BATTISTONI ALEX HAMPSHIRE (special guest MC) Legion of Strategic Deception (LSD) consists of four surviving members of a U.S. Naval Air Force jazz ensemble which were subjected to various methods of human psychological experimentation under Project MKUltra from the year 1969 until 1973. Few details are known of their involvement in the program, as Pentagon and CIA information/intel ranges from scarce to non-existent. Their charter, known as “Strategic Points Initiative,” is available purely for research through the Library of Congress. Via the catacombs of Angelfire web-hosting, there does however exist a small trail of information regarding two rare and long out-of-print seven inch releases; “Lessons in Hurt,” and “Trench Mouth Madrigals”— the only surviving audio documentation of their tenure as a group.  The surviving personnel were reunited in 2016 in order to overcome their own collective traumas and to spread a new message of FREEDOM THROUGH DISCIPLINE. A heightened sense of togetherness through the ephemeral can be found in the Legion’s latest sound, one part sartorial and two parts strength. Two members of the group have been caught up in ongoing litigation with “Rolling Loud Festival”, as the festival shares the title of their forthcoming album. LSD's boldly original approach stems from their broad experience in a wide variety of theaters, both domestically and abroad. Members are prone to onstage “flashbacks” as a result of hallucinogen persisting perception disorder (HPPD). This may include audience interactions, unrestrained dialogue, and fits of catatonic staring. If anyone does not wish to be stared at, they are encouraged to refrain from attending performances. The four members of LSD consist of: MSgt. Tyler J. Borden - violincello Cdr. Evan Lipson - contrabass Capt. James Paul Nadien - percussion Adm. Matt Nelson - saxophone Flyer by @furnitureactivist
