🕯️🌀NEW RELEASE 🌀🕯️
The CDs for "That Which is Placed Upon The Alter" , my new duo album with Evan Lipson (bass), have landed in Los Angeles! Jake Smith (guitar) is featured as well. Co-released by Klanggalerie and H&S Ranch, which was an international collaboration 💪
This recording occurred the penultimate day of a large solo tour last spring, which ended up transforming my playing. For two weeks straight I played with locals in varying cities, mostly with very different music scenes, jumping in to improvise and "see what happens". I arrived in Knoxville (one of my spiritual homes) and then entered the studio with Evan and Jake exhausted but really charged at the same time. Yall, this is an extremely peculiar record which feels chaotic but still at the same time. This 15 second clip is a microscopic sample of 1.5 hours of music. Please give it a listen, I am proud of our work here🙏
Thanks for everyone involved, especially Evan who is ruthless in his pursuit for novelty. I'll be carrying these around until sold out, and as always, comrades receive a discount ❤️🔥
Slides are from the day we recorded, which includes gas that is nearly 2/3 cheaper, the Tennessee River, and the golden orb of peace and love.

If I had all the money Eric Davis had in 1990, I would buy two assisted living facility towers and live in them, just me. Just me and that ol' bluebird of happiness. When I fall off the roof of that tower and the sky is as red as the rawhide stitch of a baseball, when I have my heart attack and the world is as dead as a Louisville Slugger left out in the rain for two weeks, who's going to dig me up when I'm in that frozen Ohio dirt?
See, God does what She wants, Eric. If you come to the kitchen and God is drinking bromine from an oversized Dow Chemical barrel in the middle of the night, you ought to tiptoe quietly back to bed. But if the floorboards in the drafty old house your family shares with God creak underneath your feet, then there is nothing you can do but shout down the attic stairs and wake your uncle who was blinded in the last war and ask him to tell the starving, thirsty, insatiable God stories of the unspeakable cruelty His lost little children are capable of.

From the minds of sound artist, poet, and designer NNN Cook and veteran sonic agitator turned field recordist Rick Wilson (aka Wiggpaw), H&S Ranch proudly presents ‘Simpatico Springs’—a collection of assembled field recordings, micro-percussion, texture studies and ultimately 'sound music.'
Grounded in silence and space, yet poised to awaken the human sensorium, 'Simpatico Springs' invites listeners to reacquaint with patience and commune with nature through abstracted realities, across an immersive aural palette. Referencing Marcel Duchamp’s concept of 'infra-thin' or the intertwined relationship, marked between two objects in passing—the recordings move listeners through a symbiotic sonic assemblage. Invoking painterly qualities, the care and craft of each track provides insight into this concept.
Equally informed by the words of poet Matsuo Kinsaku, Cook and Wilson provide solace in the expanse, as sounds ebb and flow in the ripples beneath, between and over the landscape.
Are sounds music? Is this art? Is the art the assemblage or is it the spirit(s) in nature itself. The recordings found on these beautifully shaped documents are equal parts curatorial and curious. A spectrum of sonic detritus, undulating both inward and outward. Meditative in its stream of consciousness, indifferent to wars, natural disasters, and the economy. The preciousness of a minute. Of two. Or three. In isolation with sound, we are alone, and forever beholden to the space between time and infinity. A churn of atoms. A brush against the expanse.

Mastered by Scott Gibbons, seminal and influential composer of Dark Ambient and micromusic, whose compositions demonstrate an acute balance between delicacy and physicality, often focusing around frequencies that are at the outermost limits of human hearing, and embracing quietness as a central element. A series of early releases on Sub Rosa by Gibbons were based solely on singular natural sound sources such as stones and air. Gibbons was an obvious choice to bring Cook and Wilson's composted sounds to germinate to otherworldly places.

SSBT is an electroacoustic trio that attacks jack-out-of-the-box free jazz, soundscape improv, hardcore, and noise via duel horns, duel guitars, and advanced percussion. In addition to tours with sound artist John Wiese (Sissy Spacek) and bassist Mike Majkowski, the free improvisation group has played concerts throughout artist-run spaces and independent cultural initiatives in Texas, Louisiana, Oregon, the Midwest, British Columbia, and Mexico City.
SSBT features No Idea Festival Founder and Artistic Director Chris Cogburn on percussion and electronics; Steve Jansen—who has collaborated and shared stages with Ingebrigt Håker Flaten, Frank Rosaly, James Fella, and Christina Carter—on guitar, saxophone, and tape manipulation; and Parham Daghighi, an Iranian-American artist and instrumentalist focusing on acoustic and electric guitar improvisation as well as a personalized practice of sound montage drawing extensively on the Persian art music tradition.

Obscuress, the duo of Christina Carter and Spencer Dobbs, is a daedal blend of veiled minimalism, auditory portière, and vested text. Having long supported each other’s individual work, Obscuress brings Carter and Dobbs together for the first time, working through their distinct voices, electric guitars, lap steel, mouth organ, keys, and sampled noise to compound original songs for this dedicated project.
Carter, a founding member of Charalambides, is known for her improvisational vocals and guitar work, which have been central to her solo career and numerous collaborations. Her music often explores themes of solitude, spirituality, and emotional sonority, incorporating elements of poetry and visual art.
Dobbs' eremitic work in song has been described as "beautiful, deep, desperate, drunken late-in-the-night folk music." His releases are collected under the Texas Archives imprint.
