Plein air on the farm is back! Join us at gorgeous @fishkillfarms on Saturday, May 23, 2-5pm for open flow art-making. Be it painting or drawing, let the farm be your muse.
BOS representative and prolific plein air artist @m.s.eberhart will be onsite to over-see the event for us.
Open-flow is $12, and open to artists 18+ with some experience. This is not a class, there will be no instruction but it is a great opportunity to connect with fellow artists and support not only Beacon Open Studios but the farm as well. Check the link in bio for tickets.

We’ve got some exciting plans in store for reception. The gallery at @theyardbeacon will be open 6-9pm, with refreshments and the brilliance of the magnificent @willcreynolds on piano. At 7pm attendees will be treated to the premiere of a dance and video collaboration work between @skylaschreter.dance and @sovereignsez . Stay tuned for more!

The BOS Winter show 2026 was an immersive, emotional experience. Participants of our curated exhibit “Power in Numbers”, were given the opportunity to include a plus-one, a work by an artist of their choosing. The prompt cultivated connection and conversation, new friendships were forged, existing relationships underscored.
Under the guidance of @skylaschreter.dance , dancers translated select paintings and sculpture into action, and energy. They performed their reactions and interpretations at designated times throughout the weekend, flowing amongst the pieces and the attendees in the gallery. The power of movement connected our audience to our artists work in a way we had not previously explored but hope to revisit, time and time again. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate our community.

The show is open to the public and free to attend. The gallery spans two floors, featuring 50 pieces of art.

I’m so looking forward to presenting some of these ideas (and more) within my two new pieces on Friday Feb 13th as part of the @openstudios_beacon opening reception at @theyardbeacon
⏰ 7pm- solo performance of “body: keeper of light” inspired by @laurabochet ’s work “Devotion 1”
⏰ 8pm- solo performance of “body: keeper of time” inspired by @michellesilverstudio ’s work “To Own A Body”
(Both performances will be approximately 10 minutes long)
👀 —- then, on Saturday Feb 14 during public gallery hours, I will be joined by four local dancers, in a series of dual, live movement-improv sessions in response to four selected pairs of artwork included in the group show.

This year’s curated group show event “Power in Numbers” is our 4th annual Winter Weekend exhibition. The show is about unity, compassion and fellowship.
This year’s application came with a plus-one.
Along with their submitted work, we asked that applicants include a piece by someone else. We encouraged them to reach out to artists they admired, strangers or friends. If their work was selected for the show, their “plus-one” received an automatic entry.
In some cases “plus-one” works share contextual, thematic, or aesthetic similarities, while others were chosen by way of personal relationships between creators.
We hope the show encourages you to extend a hand, and bring someone else into the room.
As part of the exhibition, Beacon-based dance and movement artist Skyla Schreter will be directing a series of movement activations in the gallery in response to 4 pairs of submitted work and 2 individual pieces.

Applications for the NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship, an $8,000 unrestricted cash grant for New York State-based artists, are now open! The NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship is not a project grant but is intended to fund an artist’s vision and voice and encourage the continuation of their practice. This year’s award disciplines are Craft/Sculpture, Digital/Electronic Arts, Nonfiction Literature, Poetry, and Printmaking/Drawing/Book Arts. Details via @nyfacurrent visit for more details
Power in Numbers is a curated, group show about unity, and togetherness. It’s about the strength of hearing or seeing your statement echoed. About knowing you’re not alone in your message, and in your meaning.
This year your application comes with a plus one.
Along with your work, we ask that you submit a piece by someone else. If you are selected for the show, this work will be displayed alongside yours.
The work that is not your own may be in some way related to yours, contextually, visually, etc. It can be similar, it can share a theme or it can be totally unrelated.
We hope the show encourages you to extend a hand, and bring someone else into the room.
Please bolster a fellow artist or support a friend. If there is someone whos art you’ve admired from a distance, may this empower you to reach out and offer them a coversation and an opportunity.

We’d love to see you all in one place, heads and eyes doing proportion measuring mental-yoga and fingers coated in charcoal.
As you know these drawing sessions raise money for our summer art exhibit events. Thank you, as always, for your support.
