Great squad session out at Churnet just before the good condies departed for the foreseeable. Jack absolutely cruised Spellbound 7a+ and then got super close to the sit (7b). Luke and Harvs also got super close to Spellbound. It will go next session for them both 💪🏻 It really might be one of the top 5 classics in the whole of Churnet. However, a slightly more low key gem is the Unicorn stand start 6c. Which the squad quickly demolished. Mike on the super classic 'Three pocket slab f6A' at the roaches the other eve. He cruised it after taking a bad fall on it a few months back, fell right from top onto a hidden rock under a pad. Such a stunning line this, the most odvious way up the face challenges newcomers to the movement required to get the ticks on grit. I'll always take any new climber to the roaches first as the grade range is so accessible! I'll also get them on this at least once to guage their ability to move on more complicated terrain. I remember looking at this when I was about 14 thinking "how the fuck do you get from the final pocket top?" Always surprises me Tom's commitment being so high even tho his climbing has been inconsistent, his headgame is always top notch. I've been doing shit loads of research into the human mind recently thinking about things like this with my brother and made huge leaps in personal knowledge that's been completely revolutionary to my climbing and life.
