I’m very proud and excited to share the announcement of my newest creative endeavour-Free Time.
Amongst the help of a large number of Perth creatives. the pieces have begun to fall together to curate a platform aimed at live in studio performances & interviews featuring artists out of our city.

Recorded in-studio, this set captures Fraser Hughes’ shift into a deeply textured, synth-driven electronic project, drawing from his roots in Perth’s emo and hardcore underground, and translating that intensity into atmosphere, tension, and feeling.

An end of an era.
As some of you may know, Sumo has unfortunately decided to close shop.
I just wanted to take a moment to thank @tristansumo and @sumosoundstudios for accommodating Opaque and allowing me to operate and expand on my craft the last couple of years!
To all my current clients: thank you so much for your patience and understanding these last couple of months. Being a one-man operation isn’t always easy, especially when there’s so much great music in the pipeline to release.
Lastly, thank you to Jay for letting me jump on board to continue future works out of his studio over at @oraclesoundau

Fraser Hughes-Free Time We catch up with one of my favourite people, Fraser Hughes. Fraser has continued to move from early pedal-based experimentation into a fully synth focused electronic practice, evolving into a producer shaped by texture, atmosphere, and sound design.
Emerging from Perth’s scrams and doom influenced underground, and performing in bands like Foxes and Thunderhead, his early work was defined by emotional intensity, dynamic contrast, and raw live energy before shifting into a more introspective solo direction.
The conversation also unpacks overcoming self made barriers, navigating creative blocks, and the internal shifts that come with changing the way you approach music entirely.
