We are so excited to announce 'Keepsake' - our 2026 community exhibition at Silver Halide 🤍 Keepsake is an exhibition about the things that shape us, the people we love, the places we return to, and the passions that make us feel most ourselves. It might be a person, a place, or something you love doing - a quiet ritual, a creative process, a moment that feels like home. These photographs hold time still. And at the end of the exhibition, each one becomes something you can hold - a tangible print, a keepsake of a moment that mattered, for you to take home. All proceeds from this year’s exhibition will be donated to SAFE Perth, the place where our story with our beloved Bud began - and the Black Dog Institute. After losing Bud, we took a year away from our annual exhibition. He was the centre of our world - not just the best lab greeter and our mascot, but a constant source of love, purpose, and connection in everything we do. Coming back to this exhibition, it felt important to create something meaningful. Something that honours that kind of love, while also being universally felt. Keepsake is about holding onto what matters most, and creating space for others to do the same. We invite you to submit a film photograph that has been processed by our team via [email protected] by EOD Friday 15th of May. All printing will be covered by us, with the help of our friends at Ilford and Fox Lab Fine Art. Thank you to Rocky Ridge and Lightning Minds for supplying drinks on the night, we appreciate you! Silver Halide 2025! Last night we had a team dinner for Cyrus’ going away! ❤️ After an incredible time with us, we’re saying goodbye to the ever-charismatic, high-energy, always-up-for-a-chat @notcyrustodd , who’s off to travel the world. From lending a hand at events to lighting up every room he walked into, Cyrus has been such a great part of our team. We’re so grateful for everything he brought to the table—his enthusiasm, positivity, and endless good vibes. 😎 Thanks for being part of the journey, Cyrus. We’ll miss you heaps and can’t wait to hear all about your adventures!

Now, as Thicc Boi Film starts a new adventure and moves interstate, we’re honored to keep their iconic film vending machine alive here at Silver 🤝 Running a small business isn’t easy, but having friends like Thicc Boi has made the journey so much better. Another wonderful submission for our upcoming exhibition Keepsake by @saritaslaterprints 🤍 “At the beginning of this year, my five year old mastered riding without his training wheels. Our favourite rides come after the rain, when puddles are gathered. There is a tunnel near our house, a portal between suburban streets and the wide riverside beyond. He used to stop at its edge, scared of the darkness. So I showed him the echo. We stepped inside and I sang his name It bounced off walls coming back to shine wonder on his face. Now I trail behind, his legs pedalling with speed and confidence. He sings as he rides and I listen for his voice bouncing back to me for a brief moment, milestones of his youth moving by” Ilford XP2 400 Olympus Af-1 Twin Not long now until submissions close! 💐

We’re excited to announce our silver reclamation project for this year’s Keepsake exhibition 🤍 Sustainability and conservation have always been deeply important to our team. As a film lab, we work with silver every day through photographic chemistry, and a few years ago we introduced a silver reclamation system using electrolysis to separate silver from exhausted film chemistry before disposal ♻️✨ Recovering silver from waste chemistry helps reduce environmental impact and prevents heavy metals from entering waterways, while also allowing these materials to be reused with care and intention rather than discarded! For our 5-year exhibition in 2024, we handcrafted a small collection of sterling silver Silver Halide pendants using reclaimed silver from the lab. This year, we’re creating something even more special from the silver we’ve recovered through the photographic process, transforming photographic waste into keepsakes with their own story and purpose behind them 🤍 It feels especially meaningful to share this project today on Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday - someone who has inspired generations of people to care more deeply for the natural world and the importance of conservation. The full collection made by our very own Eloise @seagrassstudio will be released on the opening night of Keepsake - June 19th with all profit going to Safe Perth 🫶

I was caring for my terminally ill grandmother (my Nannie), and snapped this shot to remind myself of the moments that go by so quickly.
