Excited to finally share the illustration work I did for Hawaiian Airlines (@hawaiianairlines ) new 787-9 plane!
A massive shout out to art director and graphic designer Noa Emberson (@joystain ) of @onwardcreative for the opportunity and for being such a joy to work with on such a challenging project!
We had to consider several pages of safety guidelines set by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), thoroughly understand how the plane works and interpret everything into 4.5 pages of categorised drawings. Our goal was to represent diversity in age, race and culture while having an overall ‘local’ feel.
Zoom in and see if you can find all the little local nuggets I slid in there!
Here’s some hints:
Spam Musubi
Fins
Shaka Sticker
Paniolo Hat
Muu Muu
Aloha Attire
Ukulele
Nene
Hibiscus
Plumeria
and more…
I also may have drawn us and the Hawaiian Airlines team we worked with in a scene too… ✈️🛝😉
Be safe and look at the safety cards next time you travel! The drawings (even if they aren’t mine) are always interesting (& informative!).

With a focus on the power of community, @wearehpr 2024 annual report includes interviews with longtime public radio supporters, small business owners, and community leaders. By reimagining what an annual report could be, the project aimed to connect to the audience on a deeper level, marrying compelling content with smart design, thoughtful photography, and important year-end financial insights.

We were thrilled to create a brand identity, mark, and animated logo for Namahana, a new public charter school on the North Shore of Kaua‘i. Overlooking the twin peaks of the Namahana mountain range in Kīlauea, the school seeks to implement an ‘aina-based curriculum, building lasting relationships between the students and the land.
Overlooking Diamond Head, Kuilei Place sought to reimagine what was possible by designing a contemporary residence rooted in community. To bring Kuilei Place to life, Onward drew inspiration from the history of the land, celebrating the people, beaches, and attractions that make this slice of Honolulu so special. This 2-minute spot represents countless hours of collaboration and captures the essences of the brand we set out to build.

With a vision to create an affordable residence that went above and beyond, Kobayashi Group tapped Onward Creative to develop a name, identity, logo, and brand voice for their latest project. The result is Kuilei Place. With Lē‘ahi as our mark, we’ve developed a brand that was connected to the past, yet bound for the future. Through each touch point, we celebrated Kuilei Place’s approach to elevated kama’aina living, yielding an inspired brand that’s perfectly captured in this trailer video, brought to life by the ever-so-talented Sean Benik.

Paul Strouse, a long-time friend and talented photographer, recently moved into a new studio space in Chinatown. To coincide with the new diggs, we were honored to develop a logo, signage, and event graphics for one of the raddest guys you'll ever meet. #chinatownhonolulu
In honor of nine decades of connecting Hawai‘i through air travel, we were delighted to work with Hawaiian to develop this special anniversary mark. The design, which spoke to the brand aesthetic, sense of place, and milestone, was emblazoned on the skin of numerous aircraft in the fleet. #HawaiiFlyswithUs #Logo#Design
As life-long listeners and rabid consumers of public radio, creating a logo and identity system for HPR, as well as concepting and executing a series of campaigns and annual reports, has served as one of our proudest achievements. As believers in the power of public radio to transform the community; working with HPR on numerous fronts has proven to be a dream come true. #DontForgetToDonate #HawaiiPublicRadio #LogoDesign
As pivotal members of Honolulu’s small business and creative community, we were honored to work with @artandflea to help redesign their mark. Playful, contemporary, and uplifting the logo speaks to Art + Flea’s persona and embodies the identity that the business has grown over its history.
Fresh, fast, local and delicious, Māla Market’s mantra served as our guiding light for the branding process for this new sandwich shop located in Hawaii Kai. Brand identity, naming, and the logo mark all fell under Onward’s banner. The end result has become a community staple where anyone can get in, get out, and walk away happy.
Born in the beating heart of Town with an eye for travel and adventure, Milo was designed for the modern surfer. For this project, Onward concepted the brand’s fundamentals, crafted the brand’s manifesto, and named the brand. In addition, we designed a logo that was both timeless and spoke to Milo’s deep-seated love affair with all things surf.

Surrounded by the lush landscapes that dominate the northwest corner of the Big Island, the North Kohala Food Co. was born. Focused on growing organic produce, picked by hand at peak season, the husband-and-wife team behind the brand approached us to create a logo system for their farm. Upon a careful review of the history of the land and the vision for the client, we were able to design a timeless logo that captured the essence of the brand.
