Little weekend recap, fishing was a little slower for us around the new moon but still putting some solid catches together with some real good fish. Couple grindy days but had some amazing people out that worked hard for it and got rewarded with some really nice fish!!!

Best topwater day of the spring today by far, morning trip was very solid livelining with some good drifts. Reloaded the well for the PM and headed back to the area we had em. After a little looking around we found all out topwater feeds all to ourself for 2 hours. Once it settled was still blind casting them off the surface and we headed home with a ton of 35-40 inch class released on artificials.

Only a couple more weeks we will be moving the boat back down south and getting it ready for tuna. The first 2 months will be all light tackle run and gun tuna fishing, we do not troll on these trips. It has proven over the years to be more effective and it dosent get any better then this.

Loaded our well with live bait first thing and headed to the area that we have been getting them good. Pulled in and right away started beating on them, some boat traffic started to trickle in and it slowed the bite down to a pick. Bounced around a few spots picking fish at each of them with even a bonus keeper fluke that @jackmburke the mate pulled out of his back pocket.

Really good fishing yesterday, AM was more of a pick on live bait with a good flurry of fish for an hour. PM it all came together for us at the perfect time. Started with a few fish on live bait until all hell broke loose with bass singling out bunkers all over the surface. Boys beat up on them on a variety of topwater/subsurface lures. An hour of topwater madness is all we needed landing over 30 fish on topwater. Thanks for @camruffin34 with @budzandbass for putting 22 anglers together to compete for the cup and well over a thousand in prizes incredible event it was bro.
I have some availability this week walk on spots/charters AM and PM trips. We have been seeing more and more windows of topwater every day and we will be chasing these bites no matter how far we have to run. 30 foot contender we get to the fish FAST. Thank You to everyone who came out and participated in the 2026 BudzAndBass Spring Derby! It was our best Tournament by far! With our most prizes and most sponsors ever we were planning on going bigger and better and it definitely paid off!! 22 Anglers took on the challenge of find the Biggest Striped Bass with only one coming out on top being crowned this Years BudzandBass Derby Champ! @tinmannnnnn was up for the challenge and locked in all day ended up Landing his 38 3/4in Striped Bass which took home the trophy and grand prize! 2nd place High Hook - Vince had 8 fish what an amazing job guy was putting on a clinic followed up by @marcwarrd and @petes.elitefishing with 5 Fish each well done boys!! What an amazing day on the water with everyone in on the action from start to finish! Thank you anglers for fishing hard all day and even fishing thru some rain!! Good afternoon trip yesterday, had @sergio.montiel.fishing and his boys Scott and Eddie out. Loaded the well with bait and made the run to where it’s been good to us lately, when the tide started doing its thing it was game on.
