Growing up I spent a significant portion of my life in Cedar Mountain, North Carolina which is about 40 miles south of Asheville. The last couple of weeks have been difficult to stomach for many reasons, but seeing the destruction in western NC has been especially painful. Not only is it a place I feel a deep connection to, but the history of the music I obsess over is particularly deep in that part of the world. Black Mountain, Moog, Make Noise are just some of the places and names that come to mind when I think of the contributions that have been made to electronic and experimental music - all from the mountains of North Carolina. In that spirit, I’m releasing an EP of recent tape music this Friday called Pretty Place (which is a chapel just on the border of north and South Carolina that is indeed pretty). All of the proceeds from the sale of that will be matched and donated to
@belovedasheville to help the communities there. In addition, I’m going to be raffling a brand new, never used
@makenoisemusic Mimeophon. If you buy the album (or even just donate if you don’t want the music), send me a screenshot or just your name and I’ll put you in the raffle. I’ll draw the winner next Friday (October 25th). I’ll put some more info in my stories. ❤️❤️❤️
