Jenni Kallo crunches down on some transparent jelly showcasing some impressive jaws. v1.3 is an intimate expression of warmth and nostalgia, showcasing Kallo’s experience in nuanced and rich choreography and non-verbal world building. Developed in the wonderful world of @haihatus an art space in Finland (check it out if you’re looking for an inspiring arts residence) alongside @kallocollective . v1.3 went through two distinct lives, one with live music by an ascending performance artist star Max Latva @maximilian_latva and another supported by long time collaborator Niina Rinta-Opas @kallo_ja_rintaopas
Only Bones v1.1 by Sampo Kurppa was the first alternate version to be created and was the perfect step onwards. The show took references from the original and expanded into it’s own unique world, using Sampo’s innate choreographic knack to take hand and feet expression to a new level, and finding comedy in surprising areas of the body (like the top of the head) #onlybonesproject #sampokurppa
ASMR meets Only Bones! v1.9 by @mattpasquet with sublime sound design by Tuomas Norvio is pretty much undefinable and any meaningful description is pointless. Sometimes through performance the personality of the performer is expressed, and I think this is true with Matt’s Only Bones. Matt is a ray of sunshine but a unique kind that you see and think “wow, I’ve never seen a ray of sunshine like that before”. The show is aesthetically dark and intense but Matt’s personality shines through and the result leaves you feeling super stoked and your senses fulfilled.

And that’s the collection! I made a tiny show in a massive airport hangar over 10years ago which then turned into a project which became the thing I’m most proud of creating. Mainly because other artists took something from it and made it their own. It has been quietly bubbling away all over the globe for the past 10years. Some of the versions I have very little knowledge about and have never seen, some I’ve had the opportunity to be involved a little, some I’ve been involved a lot.

Only Bones v2.0! Sometimes concepts take on a life of their own. The delightful duo @riia_saku proposed a version of Only Bones under the same conceptual constraints as v1 except with an added body (a.k.a v2). One of the most enjoyable parts of this project is to see how artists interpret, bend, or break the parameters set. “Create a solo show with one light, no text, no narrative, no set, no props, and within 1m2. @ela_bart is a phenomenal circus artist with high technical skills and she is also a wonderfully creative artist in general. She created a literal 1m2 of light that was also an aerial apparatus as she worked on an Only Bones v1.7. The show never saw the light in the end, but sometimes the potential is the exciting part anyway. #elabart #onlybonesproject
@trygvewakenshaw is a living legend of physical comedy. He has the most fun imagination of any adult and so many awards because of how awardably funny he is being.
