The long-awaited 2026 One World Media Awards Shortlist is here. 🌍 42 finalists. 14 categories. Stories from across the world that the news cycle too often overlooks, told by journalists and filmmakers who went where others did not. A remarkable body of work spanning forensic investigations in Gaza, the ongoing conflict in Darfur told through the lens of Sudanese citizen journalists, the impact of aid cuts on life in Afghanistan, and the iKhÄ©sĂȘdjĂȘ people forced to leave their village due to pesticide contamination, among many others. The winners will be announced on 17 June at our Awards Ceremony at Ham Yard Theatre in Soho, London. Tickets to be released soon. After much deliberation, we’re proud to present the longlist for the 2026 One World Media Awards 🏆 Each longlisted entry sheds light on issues shaping our world — from conflict and democratic backsliding to violence against women and girls, as well as some of the most urgent environmental challenges we face. These stories are told by journalists and filmmakers with the access, insight and determination to bring underreported issues to light.
