Ukraine’s recovery is about far more than rebuilding what was destroyed. It is about creating a stronger, more resilient and competitive economy for the future.
At the @chathamhouse_org conference ‘From destruction to recovery: Building Ukraine’s future prosperity’, our President Odile Renaud-Basso joined Ukrainian and international partners to discuss how reforms, private sector investment and closer EU integration can help drive long-term growth and stability.
Despite the war, Ukrainian businesses continue to show remarkable resilience, adaptability and creativity. Since 2022, the EBRD has deployed more than €9.7 billion in Ukraine, supporting businesses, infrastructure and energy security while helping lay the foundations for recovery.
At @chathamhouse_org , EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso and EU Commissioner @martakos_eu reaffirm the shared commitment of the EBRD and the @europeancommission to Ukraine’s people, economy and European future. Supporting resilience and reconstruction as we stand by the country – now and in the future.
We are helping Ukraine prepare for the next winter. Another high-capacity autotransformer has joined the reserve of @ukrenergo – critical equipment to replace assets damaged by ongoing Russian attacks and keep the power system stable.
Funded by the EBRD through donor support (Netherlands) and procured directly from the manufacturer, it strengthens repair reserves where it matters most.
Worth over $4.3 million and weighing more than 150 tonnes, delivering it was a challenge in itself – with logistics organised by UNDP in Ukraine, supported by Denmark.
Together with partners, we are helping keep Ukraine’s lights on.

An EBRD delegation led by our President, Odile Renaud-Basso, took part in the #AfricaForward2026 summit in Nairobi this week. We stand firmly with Africa and its extraordinary potential and ambitions, and look forward to seeing our partnership continue to grow and thrive.

Throughout the summit, the delegation held a series of high-level meetings with African and international partners, including Kenya's President William Samoei Ruto, PhD, Senegal’s President Bassirou Diomaye FAYE and Tunisia’s Prime Minister Sara Zaafrani. Our Odile also discussed with Prime Cabinet Secretary of Kenya, Musalia Mudavadi the Bank’s strengthening Kenya's role as a regional hub.
In the presence of African Head of State and President Emmanuel Macron, our President and African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat Wamkele Mene signed the Africa Green Industrialisation Initiative, which underscores the shared determination to collaborate in unlocking and scaling investments that will accelerate Africa’s transition toward a green, sustainable, and self-reliant industrial future.
A strong week in Nairobi, and an important moment for the EBRD’s growing partnership with sub-Saharan Africa.
Celebrating 30 years of partnership with Bosnia and Herzegovina 🇧🇦
Last night, the EBRD marked three decades of operations in Bosnia and Herzegovina – a partnership built on investment, reform and trust.
Since 1996, we have invested over €3.4 billion in more than 260 projects, helping to strengthen infrastructure, energy security and the private sector, while supporting the country’s transition towards a greener and more resilient economy.
From landmark investments like the Corridor Vc motorway to expanding access to finance for SMEs, women- and youth-led businesses, our work has contributed to improving connectivity, fostering growth and creating opportunities across the country.
As we look ahead, our focus remains on boosting competitiveness, deepening regional integration and promoting the sustainable use of resources to support long-term stability and inclusive growth.
We thank our partners across Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union for their continued collaboration in shaping a more prosperous future.
‘Africa is very ambitious, and the EBRD is here to support this ambition’, was the message of our Odile Renaud-Basso at the Africa Forward summit 2026.
