What does innovation look like in motion?
🎥 Our timelapse video captures the rapid progress of the OMV Innovation Hub Schwechat – a place where ideas will become technologies of tomorrow.
With EUR 65 million invested, this new hub will provide the infrastructure to accelerate innovation – from laboratory research to real-world industrial applications. At around 55% completion, construction is well on track, with start-up planned for the first half of 2027. This is where we bring together expertise, technologies, and partnerships to shape a more sustainable and profitable future.

Hydrogen plays a crucial role in many industrial processes - but how it’s produced makes all the difference! 🟢
Conventional gray hydrogen is generated from natural gas, resulting in significant CO₂ emissions.
Green hydrogen, on the other hand, is produced from water using renewable energy - creating almost no emissions.

At the Opera School, around 150 talented children and students receive professional training in solo and choral singing and gain valuable stage experience.
OMV empowers two outstanding students with scholarships, opening doors to the world of opera and supporting their first steps on stage.

Back to school… but make it refinery edition. 👩🏫👷♂️
The "Chemietage 2026", organized by the Association of Austrian Chemistry Teachers (VCÖ), brought educators together to keep curiosity (and chemistry) thriving.
As part of #OMV’s activities, we welcomed teachers at the Chemistry Faculty of the University of Vienna and took a selected group on an excursion to OMV Refinery Schwechat. They received a behind-the-scenes intro to how “This is not waste” and our transformation becomes real:

Across an entire university building, teams can now conduct real-world testing supported by advanced simulation tools and machine-learning models in the mix. This new setup makes it easier to test ideas, improve processes, and bring Austrian innovation closer to industrial scale.

#Greenhydrogen is an important pillar of the energy transition, offering a route to decarbonization for industries that rely on hydrogen as a feedstock.
At #OMV, green hydrogen is a cornerstone of our roadmap toward sustainable fuel and chemical production and a key enabler for decarbonizing refinery operations.
Our 10 MW electrolyzer produces 1,500 metric tons of certified green hydrogen every year, reducing 15,000 tons of CO₂ annually from this refinery alone.
